You are welcome. It is a lovely image and I appreciate the different way to “seeing” the landscape.

Today, when alpine tourists are taken to the top of Everest via fixed ropes, we forget what a monumental effort it took to climb the peak when Whittaker first did it.

Seems... "fresh." ;)
Well worth your time.
Heh. I know those signs. :-)

Now I’m thinking I should have gone!
In an exceptional year the entire place is covered with flowers, from the valley right up into the hills.
Lovely photograph from Grant Bulloch.
And… a big ”thank you!” to the several dozen folks who reshared this photograph!
Thanks!
Thank you!

… another photograph featuring fields of desert gold flowers, but they appeared in impressive numbers in Death Valley in late February. This is usually a dry and generally beige landscape (with some exceptions) but these flowers turned gravel fans and some hills yellow all over the valley.

I enjoy many of k.g. Sambrano’s photographs — a worthy follow, I’d say.
Scott? This year?
I had considered going, but the reports I saw indicated an underwhelming bloom. But this looks nice.
A photographer friend who has a book on Thoreau has been trying to get me to say it the right way for years. He was right!
THOR-oh, not Thoh-ROH!
No one knows! We‘ve been trying to figure it out for years!

You see it, too, right?
Thanks. It is quite a wonderful place. (Especially during the less-hot months!) I've been photographing there every year for over two decades.
Indeed! This one is in Death Valley. Now I have to find out more about the one on Highway 4 — I wasn't aware of that.
