More than 80% of recruiters admit to posting ‘ghost jobs’ to juice their talent pool and business reputation Companies are trying to improve their reputation at the detriment of job-seekers.

Ghost jobs are a real danger for people living paycheck to paycheck. Someone teetering on the edge of poverty may spend precious hours, transportation money, and emotional energy applying to positions that don’t exist or are already filled.

Nice to see people are finally paying attention. Only took over 2 years of unemployment to start seeing some acknowledgment. Won't change anything since this administration could care less.

American corporations are on pace to spend $1.1 trillion on stock buybacks in 2025, an all-time high.

Buybacks don't create more jobs, increase wages, or grow the economy — but they do help juice CEO pay that's often tied to stock performance.

Nothing trickles down to workers.

Know what sucks about job searching (aside from being skilless, old and a spoonie)?
I don't even get to relax while I'm unemployed. If I'm doing something relaxing or enjoyable I feel guilty and anxious. And if am doing *something* I'm wracked with indecision cos I don't know wtf I'm supposed to do.

Nearly 2 million Americans on unemployment, highest since pandemic era Continuing unemployment claims jumped to 1.97 million in late July, according to a Labor Department report, highlighting a weakening labor market.

My unemployment was exhausted in January 2024. Thousands of applications. Job market is dead in the water and has been since 2023.

"Employers overall continue to hire at a solid clip". Hire or post fake jobs to project false growth? How many roles were actually filled?

I for one trust his judgement. Maybe it'll be Dr. Phil.

Can't wait to see how this plays out. Now, i feel reassured and confident that my 2 year job search and thousands of applications will come to an end. I'm sure the future job numbers will reflect the reality. Fucking hell.

That's not really a fair assumption that if you're unemployed you're just laying around and doing nothing or just coasting.

@maddow.msnbc.com how many were fake job postings? I'm at 2 years unemployed and thousands of applications. This isn't normal.

Since my team was eliminated in 2023, no one has been reporting on what is actually going on in the job market. Ghosting, etc. I'm at 2 years unemployed and thousands of applications. And now it looks even worse, if possible. Blatant lies. Unreal.

🤦‍♀️those of us that are long term unemployed are fucked.

Thanks. I appreciate that. What's funny is during the great resignation, my coworkers were trying to push me to jump ship. So i didn't even get to partake in that but get to share in the punishment.

July jobs: just 73K added, the weakest since the COVID recovery began.

May and June revised down −258,000... the worst miss since the 1970s.

Either the data’s broken, or someone’s been cooking the books.

Can we talk about how many jobs are actually filled? Majority of jobs are fake.

Not only is today’s employment report uniquely bad, but revisions to the prior months show that, on average, we have seen 35k net new jobs created for the last 3 months:

JAN: +111K
FEB: +102K
MAR: +120K
APR: +158K
MAY: +19K
JUN: +14K
JUL: +73K

No way to put lipstick on this pig.

Based on how little anyone talks about how bad the job market is and has been, curious how this one will play out.

I’ve seen people I follow on LinkedIn be without full time or permanent employment for almost a year and a half (or more) while they pick up freelancing jobs to make ends meet.

The amount of ghost job postings are scary.

This job market is really a “who you know” market more than ever

8 months ago 7 4 1 0

And who you know isn't even foolproof. Not everyone has a strong network and LinkedIn wants to monetize networking. I'm 2 years unemployed and thousands of applications. Can't even get freelance work. I've never experienced anything like this.

Can we please stop regurgitating the same information? The job market is dead in the water. The jobs that are created are most likely fake. I'm at 2 years unemployed and thousands of applications. I'm not the only one. There are 40 million people in US who have open to work banners on LinkedIn.

Federal Harms Tracker -Cost to Your Government A nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working towards effective government for the American people.

148,937 civil servants gone. Programs gutted. Services stalled. Trump’s war on government isn’t rhetoric—it’s reality. The @publicservice tracker shows the damage, month by month, agency by agency. This is what dismantling democracy looks like.

Please don't make me upload a resume AND manually type in decades worth of work experience because your system can't read AND provide my LinkedIn profile (???) for a job that doesn't even exist. It's 2025, we don't need to do any of this.

It's been one year since I was laid off from Bungie, and I'm still looking for full time work.
If you've got any leads on game design or games qa positions, please reach out. I'm a skilled designer, and nothing I led QA for ever had any bugs ship.

is it impossible to get a job now or is it just me struggling this much to find one?
