Oh man, I would’ve paid to see that

Happy John Carpenter’s The Fog day! To celebrate, I wrote up a list of exceptionally foggy horror films for Dread to watch alongside the classic haunter.
Happy THE FOG Day everyone! Last year, I celebrated its 45th anniversary & thought I’d share my piece again today on this, the 21st of April. from-the-desk-of-the-horror-chick.ghost.io/45-years-lat...
I’d appreciate any shares and/or subs - thanks so much!
Seeds were there, they just failed to grow a satisfying mummy movie
Something, ANYTHING, instead of every scene just saying, how loud and gross can this be? lol
Yesss, right there with you. LOVED Evil Dead Rise and big fan of mummy movies...and this just did not hit for me
Yep! Based on The Trip. On Netflix I think
I wanted to love it so badly Sarah 😢. Def could've used a massive trim with what was there
Nah we can still be friends, we just have to put this one back in the sand and never speak of it again lol
poster for The Mummy (2026)
I hate to say it, but The Mummy is bad. Like having someone scream loud nonsense in your face for two hours (why Cronin needed two hours for this is beyond me). Sure, there's some great, gnarly, gross moments, but they don't make up for this low-rent Evil Dead film that forgets to be a mummy movie.
Poster for Over Your Dead Body
While I think it walks a little too closely to Wirkola’s original, Over Your Dead Body is a bloody riot. Weaving and Segel are perfect together. Both nail the utter madness of the premise and are such a joy to watch. Audience was cackling.
Definitely go see it if you need a good, gory laugh.
Screen featuring the film Faces of Death, with cast/crew on stage
Forgot to share, but caught a screening of Faces of Death last week with the filmmakers & cast. Love the way Goldhaber & Mazzei continue to shine a light on the horrors of the gig economy, this time looking at content moderation.
A disturbing, bloody & surprisingly funny update for the TikTok era.
Critters was one of my favorite gateway horror films as a kid, so of course I had to celebrate its 40th anniversary this past weekend at Dread.
Most things are 😂
💯

Exit 8 poster
Exit 8 may be light on plot, but that never bothered me because it executes the liminal horror of it all wonderfully. Based on a game, it makes you feel like you’re playing along with the characters, experiencing all their confusion, terror and crushing devastation when things don’t go as expected.
I’m ashamed in myself that I haven’t read them either. Def need to get on that

Great night at the 20th anniversary screening of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. Incredible to watch with a crowd. There’s a timelessness to this film & the way it deconstructs the relationship between slasher villain & the final girl. All the jokes still land. Can’t wait for the sequel!
Ahhh awesome! That'd be fun if they film the new one near you as well

Seated for a most excellent slasher film
Goddamnit

Definitely, and even after 45 years it's never been equaled or surpassed. THE HOWLING is the GOAT.
