I don't recall any previous transformative technologies that had to be sold to the public so hard. No one in 1999 was going, "Guys. Cell phone? It's coming, whether we like it or not. I think it's important, FOR WOMEN ESPECIALLY, to learn about cell phone. So that we're not left behind!!"

That’s a good point: how much would “opting in” (likely for pennies) simply be a way for these companies to shift legal blame onto you for what their AI says (but puts your name on)?
does workshop buddy have a name?
My good friend Jesse Balmer has put together a book of his work. Go pick up a preorder. It’s gorgeous. He’s worked as an artist on adventure time and many other shows but his Personal work is singular. Grab it here www.harpyharpy.com
management out here unironically quoting the borg and expecting good things to happen
I think there is a difference between understanding and validating the need that has people looking at chatbots (and synthetic text in general) as a possible solution or answer to that need, and talking about them as "useful".

People who would never otherwise agree with the premise of "downsizing" but nevertheless want to stop paying people to do necessary work now get exactly the panacea they need to justify this position. AI is nothing but permission structures all the way down.

truly they make it so hard to access normal gradients lol 😭
I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.
But in order for that to happen we have to actually fund language preservation projects. We need to fund living human beings from indigenous groups to make those choices about if and how and when and where to document their culture.
Assuming a machine can preserve meaning is the destructive thing.
He couldn’t go out in the snow so I brought some inside for him
A picture of a 3-inch anti-generative AI holographic sticker with a formline design on it. The design has a black border with sparkles lining it. Text within the border reads “you cannot automate the human experience.” The formline design depicts a decapitated robot head with vacant eyes. Next to it are two ravens, with one raven perched on the head with a piece of the robot’s antenna in its beak.

Liam was taken from Columbia Heights, the town just south of my high school in Fridley and just north of the Arts district in NE Minneapolis. I spent a lot of time with friends there after extracurriculars. News of his abduction completely broke my heart. I’m glad he’s home. #Comics4Liam
If you got the means to do so you should definitely have these books on a shelf.
I hit 10k followers so let’s have some fun sharing. Don’t share your self but share the artists on here you respect and follow. Highlight your fellow devs and creatives and just lift others and get them a chance to be seen and grow their own followers hopefully.
Let’s keep it safe and no ai
