What happens when the decision to grant or deny asylum is delegated to an algorithm? Group 5 produced a podcast episode that follows an imagined migrant arriving at the EU's external border – and uses that narrative to unpack the real and growing role of AI in European border and migration control.

How is AI-based video surveillance deployed in Hamburg's public spaces? This group explored the public perception of AI-assisted CCTV cameras through document analysis and a mini-survey conducted at Hansaplatz and Hachmannplatz in Hamburg.

What makes a public space feel secure – or insecure? And who, or what, produces that feeling? Drawing on Actor-Network-Theory and ethnographic field visits, a third group produced a digital map of security infrastructure at important public spaces in Hamburg.

The ecological cost of AI is often invisible. Group 2 developed an innovative methodology for "interviewing AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Grok, and DeepSeek about their own environmental impact and turned the results into a homepage.

Who owns AI? Project 1 mapped the global power structures behind large AI systems – tracing the relations between public administrations in Hamburg, big tech companies, and data workers across the globe.
