I've begun to feel increasingly that the attacks across generations--are emerging out of interests that want to divide people and prevent systemic change to address capitalism/private greed run amok. If the oldest generations alone were the problem, time alone would solve it. But it won't. /end

Sometimes memory is an asset. The protests I've been to have been dominated by grey haired people who remember a time before Trump and even a time before Reagan's scam that wealth trickles down. Republicans themselves called it Voodoo Economics. 4/n
I do endorse age limits for political office. People can be sharp into extreme old age but I've also witnessed how fast people can deteriorate. Yet there are plenty of young politicians devoted to not solving problems. Plenty of young people in Congress blocking real change. 3/n
Maybe the problem is not having a holiday devoted to voting, housing policy that doesn't offer more options, eliminating pensions (of course we invested in our 401ks, we were told we had to finance our own retirement and possible long-term care), and a corrupt tax code. 2/n
The NY Times has an opinion that everything wrong with the US is because old people. We won't downsize, won't stop working, and vote too much. So many people I know are hanging on by the skin of their teeth. I think this argument is misdirection. 1/n
In the 70's the Government owned Energy, it built houses, it owned Public Services and it employed people.
Now billionaires own it all, and they pay you too.
So every year prices go up more than wages.
It's not complicated why things are only getting worse.
It's billionaires
The National Science Foundation which funds a quarter of all basic scientific research in the country is being dismantled.
Everything the Ellison family could own if Paramount buys Warner Bros:
Paramount+
CBS
CNN
Showtime
HBO
Warner Bros
TNT
TBS
MTV
DC Studios
Nickelodeon
Comedy Central
Cartoon Network
And more...
This is a rotten deal that the Trump regime has rubber stamped.
State AGs must step in and block it.
The fact there was a mass shooting with EIGHT dead today and it barely made the front page of any news site tells you everything you need to know how fucked up we are as a country. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/19/us/shreveport...
This is what results when healthcare becomes a profit maker and not a human right. The response from those who could prevent this is 'oh well'.

“The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands...may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.” —James Madison
A large crowd as always at the weekly march in Tbilisi. Georgians have been protesting in 8+ cities every day for the last 507 days.
Ginger cat is sitting on a wooden table staring at the camera.
Every snack you make.
Every meal you bake,
Every bite you take,
I'll be watching you. 🙀😸😹

ZOHRAN: “TBH, I don’t think too much about how Republicans portray me. The power of an ideology is judged in the worth of its delivery— to be told a city-run grocery store is implausible but $500 MILLION/day to kill ppl in Iran & Lebanon is necessary speaks to a broken politics.”
Tesla paid $1 billion in taxes to China & $0 in federal income taxes to the US. At least 88 highly profitable corporations paid $0 federal income tax last year while bringing in $ billions. Disney, CVS, Palantir, Taco Bell & others are making massive profits, paying executives enormous ⬇️
That the president of the United States is personally looting the treasury to the tune of literally billions of dollars and that he is not being immediately removed from office and tried for high crimes against this country is a devastating indictment of every part of our political system!
Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell could not have sold children for sex without rich perverts buying them for sex. I feel this needs to be emphasized much more than it is.
From there, they came to Chicago where she got a degree from the Hahneman Medical College, which taught homeopathic medicine and accepted women since 1871. She graduated in 1880. Hopefully the Hahneman Medical College was a better place then than it was later. www.lostcolleges.com/371-hahneman...
The carriage was demolished, the horse died, but she was thrown out uninjured. Couldn't find much about her. Like so many early Chicagoans, she was born in upstate New York, then took the canal around the lakes to Milwaukee. 2/n
I thought it would be fun to take a look at Stony Island Avenue in the run-up to the Obama Presidential Center opening when I bumped into this tidbit. There was a "female physician" named Mrs. A J French at Grand Crossing in 1884. She made the news because her carriage was hit by a train. 1/n
Exactly one year ago today:

The mallards were checking out the Spiderman exhibit.
For awhile anyway, I'll post what's in bloom in the Osaka Garden/Garden of the Phoenix in Jackson Park on my webpage and put the links around. So people know when it's a good time--but I think it's always a good time!

Many, many brave people are fighting to stop this, and also—our collective failure to stop it from getting this far will haunt us for the rest of our lives.
THIS kind of "intimate" relationship between Paramount and Trump is the reason why I am testifying this afternoon before a Senate panel against the merger of Paramount and Warner Bros., which owns CNN

I went today so I could describe it accurately and I’m going to see if I can get someone’s attention. I was a volunteer so some know me and might listen.
Bank of purple azalea with pale azalea on the other side of the fence
Weeping cherry with the Kasuga lantern. The deer 🦌 n the lamp represents the sacred deer at the Kasuga temple
One of hawthorns decided to burst into bloom
But the heat is forcing the azaleas in the Osaka Garden so it will be gorgeous in a week or two almost a month early
Green leaves are tinting the white and pink. View of the grove around the Columbian Basin. With the OPC in the distance
Little cherry trees gone to leaves
Drift of pink petals along the shoreline
The heat is pushing the cherry petals to drop. There’s enough to be pretty for a few days. #JacksonPark #Chicago
The effective federal corporate income tax rate:
1950: 50%
1990: 25%
2020: 13%
Stop asking "but how we will pay for it?" Restore the corporate tax rate.
That is how we will pay for it.
