This team is too good to miss the playoffs. That rough stretch sucked, and it cost them the season. I don’t know what changes are in store for the front office (or the roster) next year, but I feel good about the team.

Leave it to my 19-year-old son to tease me with this “Breaking News” #njdevils
I remember that. I was in college, out of market and couldn’t watch live, but the opening teaser on espn2 nhl2night had Schwab skating across the ice, tossing his gear near the red line, and the narrator (either Bill Pidto or John Buccigross) describing him “like a mother protecting her cubs”
How is he not ejected? It’s late in the game, but I’ll take Allen.
Never mind. Stadium series. I see the helmet.
What is that jersey from that he’s wearing? It’s nice!
The Canes are a good team, and they’ve got a psychological edge over the Devils given the past decade or so (maybe more). Not saying the Devils are playing great, but this score is because of the Canes playing well, not the Devils playing poorly.
Just an observation … all of these goals were on speed and stick handling and none on deflections. Keefe always seems to rely on a methodical setup in the zone and then getting a deflection (which rarely works). I’m confused. #NJDevils
How did he say it?
That’s by design, so many of us watch sports on streaming services that it prevents spoilers.
Is it the offense or Prairie View’s stifling defense? Yeah, the O hasn’t been at their best, but I really think PV’s defense is winning them the game.
In fairness, I don’t think I blame Markstrom on this one — it looked like Cuyle tipped it. But yeah, he’s gotta give up one on the first 3 shots.
Glad to see the win (as meaningless as it may be), but I think we may need to sharpen Jack’s skates. #NJDevils
Because Markstrom CAN be very good, the team gave up a lot for him, and they can’t really afford the dead cap hit of a buyout. A decent coach might help Markstrom gain some good consistency.
Looks like Markstrom has a M-NTC according to Puckpedia, both currently and in the extension that begins July 1. I guess there’s still an opportunity for a buyout. 😬 (but to be honest I’d try replacing Rogalski first)
I had a front row seat to this one. It was ugly. (Ok, 6th row. But still the closest I’ve ever been to an NHL game)
I can only guess it’s because he could be motivated to play against his former team. I’d be motivated to trade him back to his former team.
Excuse after excuse. Bott Stevens is definitely the GM.
The de facto General Manager of the team.
@thehockeyguy.bsky.social is gonna need a whole whiteboard dedicated just to the TB-BUF game tonight, even with the abbreviated format.
I was wondering how long they’d keep that up. But that’s not uncommon for ESPN - overdo the production.
That weakness was on full display this year and might lead to a change. Might.
Listen to the post-deadline presser and he did come across as weak. He was sitting by the phone the night of the senior prom hoping it would ring, and nobody called. The trades he makes, overall, aren’t bad, but he’s too passive and doesn’t exert any influence. Same w contracts; he’s not in control.
I agree with you here. I don’t really know what he could’ve done other than mess things up. Also I think the team has a pretty good roster and the problem, fundamentally, isn’t the players.
I would love it, but if they can’t beat the Leafs in regulation with over 40 SOGs I’m not betting on it.
Ok, it’s looking better after the first commercial break. If only I could fix the audio and get the Matt Loughlin feed…..
Is this ESPN+ #NJDevils feed really choppy, or is my internet speed not living up to expectations?
#NJDevils fans were blessed with possibly the best NHL announcer team in the last game, courtesy of TNT, and tonight the pendulum swings to the other extreme and we get Steve Levy 🤮
What’s that song after Glass’s goal— “I’m the Glass Man”? Never heard it. I always thought he should get an angelic Debbie Harry chant of “Oooh oooh, oh oh”.
