I am reading “Dark Tales,” which has a few short stories I don’t remember ever reading before, and has there ever been a writer who could thread terror through the mundane so well??

Oh yeah, that one’s hilarious. Like, come on, I barely know the beginning. I’m just working with a vibe here.

I love the energy of “just quickly write a crappy first draft” and I would absolutely love to do that because editing is my favorite but alas, there is nothing quick about how I write. I must meander through the crappy first draft to even figure out what I actually want to write.

I believe it! And both shows are so good. I rewatched some of ER after having my first kid, but that was already six years ago now …

Oh that is almost my next read (currently finishing a book of Shirley Jackson stories and have my book club reading a Toni Morrison but then!) — I might have to pair it with The Stand.

It’s one of my favorites, but I haven’t read it in decades. I tried during COVID but didn’t make it far lol. I think it’s time.

I don’t know that I will yet but I keep meaning to re-read The Stand.
