Trump’s endless flip-flopping on the Chagos Islands shows why Starmer’s approach is doomed to fail.
Britain can’t rely on the US while Trump is in the White House. It’s time to strengthen our ties with allies we can depend on, starting with our neighbours in Europe.

Both BCP Reform councillors breached the Code of Conduct, then failed to comply with sanctions prescribed for them by the Standards Committee. EIGHT complaints upheld against Cllr Cameron Adams, including five complaints of bullying. Council to "note" their misconduct on 10 February.
Just caught up with the #BCP #Council Cabinet meeting held this afternoon & there was a very interesting question from resident @alexmckinstry.bsky.social & equally interesting response(s) from Cllr @mikefcox.bsky.social.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

What disgusting comments. Our military paid with their lives with huge numbers returning horribly maimed physically & mentally.
As well as being cruel & wrong thus feels like a strong signal that he values no one & IMO puts the very future of NATO at risk
Hi @tomhayesmp.bsky.social I just saw this post of yours over on FB and it misrepresents the truth.
#BCP annual bus grant for 2025/26 is £2,759,081.
Over the next 3 years that figure drops by 5% to £2,621,127 each year, so even by my limited maths skills that £7,863,381 represents a cut doesn't it?
With the mayoral elections cancelled, priority areas will now receive less funding — so I called on the Government to make sure Wessex gets its fair share. Yet again, ministers refused to accept that Dorset and its neighbours deserve equal access to funding for infrastructure, housing and skills.
We need a VAT cut in Wednesday’s Budget to save hospitality and revive our high streets. We’re losing a pub a day and 80,000 jobs.
I’ve launched my Pub of the Year competition to celebrate locals and highlight the pressures they face.
Nominate at vikkislade.uk by 28 Nov.
So pleased that @libdemdaisy.bsky.social launched this as @libdems.org.uk party policy today.
We need to address the “Cost of doing Business Crisis alongside the Cost of Living Crisis”
I trust that all #BCP Council residents, Cllr's & local MP's listen to Adam Richens the Statutory 151 Officer/Director of Finance responses to questions regarding the 4.99% uplift in Council Tax because he dispels much of the misinformation spread by mischief makers.

Perhaps #Labour MP's need to check their own decision making when it comes to holding the Labour Government to account, they stand up for residents only when it falls inline with the Whips Office.

Can’t believe Lib Dem Conference was already a week ago!
Here’s a quick look at what I packed into an incredible (and very long!) weekend.
👏
Congratulations to London Liberal Democrats for an incredible result in West Hampstead last night.
Janet Grauberg will make a fantastic local councillor. Bring on the local elections next year!
After 1,700 fines were issued for illegal parking this weekend, I asked the Minister:
Is it really fair for council tax payers to foot the £200 bill every time a car is towed — just because a driver chose to ignore the rules?
It's time for the Government to act.
President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, guiding Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russia’s unwarranted aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraine’s voice is heard on the world stage.
If Ukraine is forced to surrender its sovereign territory to Russia, it will be the greatest betrayal of a European ally since Poland in 1945.
The UK must lead in Europe in defence of Ukraine. We cannot stand back and watch as Zelensky is bullied by Trump.
Absolutely delighted that our Children's Services have achieved a 'good' rating from Ofsted. It's down to the dedication and hard work of our amazing staff members, the confidence and drive of our leadership team and the investment in children's services as a priority across the whole council 🌟
Wow. MPs back proportional representation system for UK elections in symbolic vote

Every vote counts, etc. etc.
Ukraine deserves to make next year a year of peace, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Nov. 19 during the European Parliament's extraordinary session dedicated to the 1,000th day of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
0.08% expected growth by 2038 a CPTPP 0.08% by 2035 - Australia deal 0.07% by 2035 - Japan deal 0.03% by 2035 - NZ deal MINUS 4% - long term loss of growth caused by the Brexit that enabled these ‘wins’
Just a reminder of what trade deals “with the rest of the world” have done for us compared with what we have lost and continue to lose…
