Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of speaking at the performance.sync() organized by @mozilla.org in Amsterdam.
My talk was a 15-minute session where I shared practical techniques for debugging and optimizing slow interactions on websites.

#perfnow This is so cool @rich-harris.dev! Svelte looks much easier and better to use then React. My question is quite simple: why did React get so much traction and adoption, instead?
It’s an honor to see my company #speedkit mentioned on stage at #perfnow by a web performance VIP and ambassador such as Barry @tunetheweb.com Pollard. 😊 Congrats to the Speed Kit team who implemented speculation rules in such an effective way in our product!
Yay! We will soon be able to measure whether soft navigations are faster or slower than hard navigations (with speculation rules maybe) #perfnow @mmocny.com
If someone at #perfnow organization can read this, maybe @ppkoch.bsky.social, is there a way to stop the big screen to flicker? I hope it is just an issue with Michael's computer
#perfnow I think Safari Tech Preview just updated and now it support INP. cc @tkadlec.bsky.social
The domain loaf.cafe is available and quite cheap if you want to something with it @andydavies.me #perfnow
#perfnow q for @andydavies.me:
When doing a web perf audit, what is your favourite way to get to the longest function source code, given the script URL and the character position of the function?
I only found a VS Code extension to do so, but I'm curious do what's yours.
"But Andrea, the synchronous tracking code is secretly hidden deep within Google Tag Manager!"
@verlok.bsky.social is calling me out, and I'm not sure I like it. 😅 But some great tips on common INP mistakes.

#perfnow question for @marcysutton.com : what do you think about those scripts that you can add to your website and (claim to) make your website accessible effortlessly? Hit us.
Good morning from Amsterdam
Now I have an aged RUM bottle! #rumarchive at #perfnow. Thanks to @programmingart.bsky.social for the sticker 😊
#perfnow is starting!
Spotlight overlay showing the title 'Clipboard' and – in the history – different text, code and image items.
You know when you copy a piece of code, then you copy another one and you lose the previous one? No more clipboard stress. Finally, multiple clipboard landed on macOS.

Don't settle for "good" LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) in website loading performance. It's time for new thresholds.

Speaking today at Performance Observer meetup! 16:00 UTC on improving slow interactions (INP). Join us! performanceobserver.dev/events/episo... #webperf #inp
@matteobordone.bsky.social non so se seguire Twin Peaks ascoltando le tue descrizioni delle puntate su #T__B, oppure abbonarmi a Paramount+ e guardarmi gli episodi. Ci penserò ancora un po’ su.
SVG Optimization for Web Performance - Want to boost your website's speed and visual appeal? SVGs are a great way to do it. Check out my latest blog post on optimizing SVG images for performance: www.andreaverlicchi.eu/blog/loading...

I was thinking mostly about mobile. The operating system, I would say. And the difference in the hardware. But I'm just guessing, it would be nice to have the numbers to demonstrate it.
Then I’ll revert to make it asynchronous.
Yes please. Same motivations Harry and Tim wrote above. That would also allow to demonstrate with numbers how faster Safari is. In fact, we might need different thresholds for good LCP and INP 🤔
In fact, my understanding before Paul’s talk was that it didn’t make much of a difference.
After Paul’s talk, I changed it in my blog so the first, eagerly loaded image is decoded sync, and the lazy loaded images are decoded async.
It shouldn’t move much the LCP needle, though.
Last week I attended the most esteemed conference in the realm of web performance in Europe: performance.now. Here's a detailed account of my participation and insights gained from attending and contributing.

Amazing!
“Save as a copy” would be a good feature request for the trace.cafe team!
Oh no, I read this too late. We crossed so many times and I wanted to say hi but didn’t know what to talk about. This would’ve been an interesting topic, I love web components.
Make it fast. Make it accessible. Make it easy to use. Make its value apparent. Ask people what they think of it.
💯 Principles we should all be living by.

Thanks. I might have missed it when I was staking notes. Mono-tasking person here.
Big claps to @jackfranklin.bsky.social for the talks at #perfnow!
I like these dense talks full of tips on what I use daily, I always learn something new.
Will definitely give feedback on a couple of things later either at the booth or via crbug.com/new
