I'm planning to go to #IMPS2026 in KR this summer! It will be my first time for IMPS and I'm very excited : ) I'd like to share some recent developments on fitlandr (cran.r-project.org/package=fitl...), and I was wondering if anyone's organizing a symposium and would like some nonlinearity? 🙂

Congrats Prof. Eiko!!
Thank you!
From December, I will join the Research Group of Quantitative Psychology and Individual Differences at KU Leuven as a postdoctoral research associate, supervised by Francis Tuerlinckx and Eva Ceulemans. Looking forward to this new adventure : )
... my paranymphs Zhe Dong and Daan Hulsmans; my photographer Mingmin Zhang; as well as all my family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who joined onsite or online. Your support means a lot to me!
I would like to thank my supervisors Anna Lichtwarck-Aschoff and Fred Hasselman; the chair of the PhD committee Casper Albers @casperalbers.nl; the committee members Ralf Cox, Denny Borsboom, Eva Ceulemans, Laura Bringmann @bringmannlaura.bsky.social, and Nessa Ikani ...
I am very happy and honored to share that I successfully defended my PhD thesis, Advancing the Analytical Tools for Understanding Complexity in Behavioral Science, on November 20th and received my doctorate (cum laude) from the University of Groningen @rug.nl ! 🎉
We built the openESM database:
▶️60 openly available experience sampling datasets (16K+ participants, 740K+ obs.) in one place
▶️Harmonized (meta-)data, fully open-source software
▶️Filter & search all data, simply download via R/Python

Yes see you 😉
Thanks Dominique 😄
Thank you😉
I’m very happy to share that my PhD thesis, Advancing the Analytical Tools for Understanding Complexity in Behavioral Science, has been approved by the assessment committee! 🎉
I will publicly defend my thesis on November 20th at 12:45😉 Looking forward to it!
Me in front of the SAA flag
Made it to @saa2025leuven.bsky.social (after 6 hours train from Groningen 🤣)
Too late for the registration today but I'm certainly at the right place! See you tomorrow : )
ICYMI: decision to cut 5 international bachelor psychology programs in NL poses serious threat to psych science nationally & internationally, given how much research conducted here has historically punched above its weight in terms of per-capita output.

See the preprint for more details! Comments and remarks are welcome😉
We believe these analysis tools can be a very useful complement to the simulation-based approach. We also recommend that future model builders try to start with a more comprehensive understanding of smaller models and build on it afterwards.
Following this workflow, we can see what exact characteristics of the dynamic functions lead to certain overall behavior of the system. We also showed that as long as these core characteristics are preserved, we can change the function forms and produce similar results.
We started with two variables, analyzed their dynamics and the influence of various parameters. After that, we also showed how to add more variables and parameters into the analysis step by step.
We used two formal dynamic models, the panic disorder model by Robinaugh et al. and the suicidal ideation model by Wang (@shirleybwang.bsky.social) et al. to show how to use these tools to understand why a dynamic system evolves in a certain way, resulting in interesting phenomena.
In this tutorial, we introduced an R package with a GUI that can perform phase plane analysis and bifurcation analysis for formal dynamic models in psychology.
Happy to share the last preprint for my PhD project!

Haha thanks! This one is mainly written by the awesome Fred though😉
I wrote my first blogpost for our Complexity in Behavioural Science research group page. Check it out if you wish!

Thanks to @cuijingmeng.bsky.social for helping with uploading
