Oh, your product is named <something>GPT? Is that because it's a generative pre-trained transformer too? Or is it because you think that every AI product needs to end in GPT for customer recognition?

While I love that everyone is using AI to build their own apps now, I worry that a lot of people aren't going to be able to do anything with them beyond the three people that have that very specific need. Generalized apps are hard to build because of all the potential use cases.
Per Arista at #NFD40, 90% of compute in 2026 is expected to be liquid cooled. Air cooling won't cut it any more.
Rest easy, friends. I made a Babylon 5 reference at #NFD40. #SwedishMeaballs
We did Ike's for lunch at #NFD40. The food is amazing but the caramel apple suckers are the best treat.
Happy Rex Manning Day to all who celebrate!
Hotel De Anza downtown San Jose. This place has lots of charm! Rachael knows how to pick em!

Did you know that #TFDLive streaming is happening for #NFD40 right now on Youtube? youtube.com/TechFieldDay Check it out!
We’re kicking off #NFD40 with @nokia.bsky.social!
48 hours before I leave for #NFD40. And I’m still not thrilled with the Southwest seating and boarding changes.
I know the tweet is Al generated when they use " ," before and.
“I will NOT sacrifice the Oxford comma. We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They assimilate the em dash and we fall back. They capture ‘not just X but y’ and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further!”
Just had to sprint from D2 to C7 in PHX to make an impossibly tight connection. Never let them say running doesn’t pay off. #RSAC
Live your life with the confidence of the guy saying this was a carry on bag.

The Value of Concise Communication
Brevity is the soul of wit. And we need more brevity in our communications.
I spent the weekend teaching the new Cybersecurity merit badge to 30 eager scouts. My thoughts:
- Good overview of the technology without going too deep
- Kids already understand some of this a basic level thanks to living the technology
- Always a couple of advanced students!
Context Is Expensive
When it comes to learning and understanding, facts are easy. If I ask you how many bits are in an IPv4 address it's a single answer. People memorize facts and figures like this all the time. It's easy to recall them for tests and to prove you understand the material. Where…

Thank you @khill.bsky.social for making a video that I’ve been talking about on the @techfieldday.com Rundown for weeks. Space data centers are dumb because space isn’t cold. Among other reasons. youtu.be/-w6G7VEwNq0
I got this random package today from HPE. Looks like it’s movie night tonight! Happy Anniversary to everyone at HPE!

I didn't want to have to do it, but I see no other choice.
IPv6 is the "AI IP Address". If you aren't using IPv6 you're already behind in the AI race.

Sam Altman at the Cisco AI Summit:
"I would like for AI to listen in on things and provide value."
What value? How? That's the thing no one is answering. What value is being provided?
Watching the Cisco AI Summit and Jeetu Patel says (paraphrased): "We are running out of human data, synthetic and machine generated data are continuing to train models"
Am I the only one that sees issues with training models on made up data and hoping they don't hallucinate?
Yeah, it has been. People take the first bin they find, especially the old C group. Now that they charge to check a bag it's just going to get worse.
