That logic doesn’t really work when you look at the Elanga-Isak situation last year.

Any news on woolwich exchange or is that another binned off project?

Lessons will have to be learnt here by #nufc. A precedent has now been set that we can be bullied by players and other clubs into sales. Had they taken control and tried to sell #isak at the begging of the summer they may have got more, looked less foolish and given more time to find a replacement.

I wonder if the ground breaking chat that Amorim had to convince Sesko to choose Man U involved barely playing him and picking him 10th out of 11 to take a penalty. #nutc #sesko #manu

I’d happily let Bruno go if he wanted the move and it was his dream as long as he didn’t disrespect the club, the manager and the fans and as long as we got market value.

Isak has behaved awfully and if one of your own had done this I’d expect you’d feel the same.

Someone should explain to Alexander #isak
Rats don’t get the cheese they only get the trap.

Half expecting to wake up to the headline: Isak shits on Bobby Robson’s grave tomorrow. #isak #nufc

Also…….. If he stays, don’t dare give him a new contract with better terms. He doesn’t deserve it. Give it to Bruno, Tonali, Big Joe etc. Send the message: loyalty is rewarded at #nufc; treachery is not. Howay the Fucking Lads! #isak

We have been made to look foolish over #isak for too long now. Enough is enough. Someone needs to come out in the media and say: if Liverpool want him, they know what to pay. If they don’t, he can sit in the reserves and bloody rot there until he sacks his agent and makes a full apology. #nufc

It has been a thoroughly embarrassing summer as a #nufc fan. There are too many situations the club should have seen coming. That being said we still have a great core group of players a brilliant midfield and two of the best young full backs in England. I still believe in Newcastle United and Howe!

I may well be wrong on this but I’m starting to feel like Isak is going nowhere and they are going to lay down the law on him and his agent. Watkins or wissa will be the Wilson replacement and just start the season playing. That will send out a strong message after an embarrassing summer. #nufc

#isak is not wholly to blame for all of this. I think he has behaved poorly and another slimy agent has seen a big fee light up his eyes. However, the club has to take an equal amount of responsibility for allowing it to get to this point. It feels amateurish to end up here. #nufc

If #isak goes after the way this summer plays out the atmosphere at St.James’ Park is going to be unbelievably hostile in that second game. #nufc

I always had such affection for Bobby Robson but Eddie is putting himself right up there for me. They are both proper football men through and through - they do it because they love the game. No ego.

I think we’ll all look back on this era (good and bad) in the clubs history and if nothing else remember what a brilliant manager and a thoroughly decent bloke Eddie Howe was. #nufc #isak

That’s true but whenever you listen to any ex players they usually say that things are never that simple. Having someone there who everyone knows doesn’t want to be there creates massive disharmony. I also think it’s so much worse because it’s another prem team.

No Newcastle fan begrudged Isak a move if he wanted it down the line. I always thought Barca would suit him to the ground. But he’s gone about this window like a knob. Left it until the last minute and thrown a transfer request in. I thought he was better than that tbh #nufc

I saw him pass sideways a lot at Chelsea. They didn’t think enough of him to want to keep him and it certainly hasn’t worked at Athletico. When players start skipping about each year there’s a reason. At the top level he’s managed one good season at Crystal Palace.

Not me. I can’t think of a worse, more mid-table, signing if I tried. They’re bringing on Conor Gallagher off the bench to change the game said no one ever.

I don’t know why they even bother saying that. Who the fuck would ever say they wanted a different club after signing on with someone.

Ekitike signs for Liverpool. He only ever wanted Real Madrid etc.

Some #nufc fans need to get a grip. A few years ago go we were battling relegation. We’re about to go back into the champions league and won a trophy. Sure, there needs to be a better plan but the attitude of some off the back of a meaningless friendly with Celtic is honestly laughable.

The transfer planning needs addressing at #nufc for sure. Eddie is a brilliant manager but his best work is always done when the window is closed. Every target has felt like a saga in recent windows and it creates such bad vibes. I know some of it is circumstantial but it’s just happening too often.

Once we’d pulled out he’d always have said that. It just makes sense. Unless he’s a total idiot I think he’d be flattered by the interest and Eddie doesn’t tend to target idiots. The only annoying point is it makes me feel like I want him to fail now which isn’t a great thought.

Can we sell Isak to ourselves for 200mil? That seems like the sort of shit you can do these days. #nufc

It’s a hard one. He was young the first time and PSG Messi and Mbappé came knocking. Think he might have come to us this time but Liverpool were bound to offer more money and better wages so we pulled out before we got let down by Eintracht and then possibly by him on wages.

9 months ago 1 0 1 0

I think we’re just in a difficult position. We have lofty ambitions but can’t really afford mega wages or break our wage structure. The club identified good targets but perhaps have just moved to slowly at times and needed to move swifter before competition came in with better terms.

Disappointment on Ekitike is understandable. We’ve had our hopes up three times with him and it hasn’t worked out. Time to move on and to remember we’ve kept out best players thus far and are off the back of a brilliant season. It’s hard not to lose perspective on that in these windows though #nufc

There is far too much work and effort here for it to be a bluff
