If anyone's confused about what's going on in the strait of Hormuz, I highly recommend a YouTuber that has the channel name. "What's going on with shipping?" The man is a treasure and it puts things into context.

Don't let Canva and AI design calendars, y'all. It is really bad at conveying info in a way humans need to see it.
Removed the brewery name here, but this has to be one of the worst ways to display information on a calendar I've seen... they have multiple locations but let's see what's going on each day... Not location???

No matter who gets the Democratic nomination, this is probably going to be a helluva fight to keep miniTrump/Lepage out of that seat.
I'm not looking forward to the midterm lead up, personally.
We have a field of democrats running, notably:
Joe Baldacci, state senator and former mayor of Bangor
Matt Dunlap, Maine's State Auditor, former seven-term Secretary of State.
Jordan Wood was previously running for U.S. Senate, but switched to this race after Golden dropped out.
Former Maine governor Paul LePage (a dickhead we elected twice because of plurality, hence, the ranked choice making a difference here) is running on the R-side, and frames his campaign around the argument that rural Maine isn't getting its "fair share" of resources. ๐
In 2024, Trump won ME-2 over Harris 53.5% to 44.5%, while Golden narrowly won re-election with just 50.3% of the vote, about 2,700 votes. It's widely considered one of the top pickup opportunities for Republicans in the country.
(TLDR: We're ditching Golden, yes, but it might go red instead)
Ok here's your primer on ME-2:
Jared Golden announced in 2025 that he's not seeing re-election. The Democratic primary is June 9, and then the general election is November 3rd.
BOTH of these elections will use ranked-choice voting, FYI.
Hahahaaa just realized Mamdani is gonna be sending a tax bill to Trump because he doesn't live there, he lives in Mar-A-Lago / the white house hahahaha
He's not running for re-election.
Anyone freaking out about new taxes for the rich needs to look up how much we USED to tax the rich. We didn't make this up, folks, they just weaseled their way out of it over the last 20-30 years.
Toddler T-shirts shouldn't cost $25.
The fact that Mamdani just seems like a cheerful normal guy who's policies are things like "we're going to tax second homes to fund pothole repairs" or whatever and yet this generates panicked responses like "This is basically Stalin's great purge turned up to eleven" is... telling. It tells things.
It's so unthinkably short sighted, agghgh I hate it!!
Everyone can chill with the calls for Mainers to "do something" about Golden. He's not seeking reelection.
100% and be mad as hell
Oh did those INSANELY sketchy sales numbers come back to haunt them? ??
There's a group of people that I just seriously don't understand and can't empathize with: those who are never curious about anything.
How can you not be curious about life? What's around you? History? Nature? Culture?
What a sad life to never want to know anything.
ET was way too scary. I got really upset when ET was really gray in the ditch, and everyone chasing him and even the scenes where ET gets accidently left behind and he panics were way too much. I probably watched it when I was ... 6? Too soon.
My daughter called pachys "bonk bonks" right now because I used to make her laugh when I read it to her when she was very little and couldn't talk
The note on the bottom of this chart is delightful but I'm still mad that people haven't gotten the Brontosaurus memo.
And, again, THEN WHAT? Say we "force" the government to elect someone Democratic or something. Do you think that party and philosophy will ever, ever, ever, have a chance of being re-elected again? Read some history, folks, and get real.
Not to mention that the self-centering of American culture doesn't allow for group actions against tyranny, only individual ones, but the selfishness component means that the chances of an individual actually putting themselves in danger for ANY kind of "greater good" is insanely unlikely.
We're supposed to storm the capital at gunpoint, then what, install a government that zero countries will recognize as legitimate, and curb stomp what remains of democratic processes by doing so?
I know there are people abroad saying, "IDK why Americans can't overthrow their government when the citizens have that many guns" but let's talk about that for a sec. Putting aside the fact that the gun-nuts are usually MAGA....
How do you expect this to play out?
Asking this for real:
Why do trucks at construction sites literally back up all the time? Completely understand the need for a warning noise. Compeltely perplexed as to why we seem to go backwards more than forwards.
Heard any of the "youthes" say "six-seven" lately? No?
See? Language memes are things that happen and come and go. It's OK.
Yeah if it's fried it won't survive.
