republicans will yowl and piss and moan and that to my mind is all the reason to do it

the greatest entrance in movie history (give or take Viggo in Fellowship)

Feels like Gemmill is giving two conflicting answers on Mohan’s exit within the same breath.
one way to work around the Tenacious D Tribute problem
I am like the one guy who kind of likes Yesterday tbf. Even if Richard Curtis (hilariously for his genre interests) is incredibly unimaginative when it comes to writing romantic conciliations
say what you will about Yesterday but at least they had the rights to actual Beatles songs lol
History has proven Judith Butler right (and The Guardian wrong for censoring her). Just look at the reaction of Justin Webb, Hadley Freeman, Janice Turner and other TERFs to Trump. TERFs are not "part of the contemporary struggle against fascism."
Skeleton Crew: more fun than I was expecting? The Treasure Island influence helps the Amblin/Stranger Things Star Wars pitch feel not completely rote. Sags in places but the image of Tunde Adebimpe from TV On The Radio as a bumbling dad riding a speeder bike will stay with me for a while. 7/10
That's filmmaking, Mr Pullings. My god that's filmmaking.
also given how good Macdowell is in this and Groundhog Day I think we can put any issues with her performance in Four Weddings down to the script and being dropped into the production late
very cute and well-made movie starring an absolute monster. quite a bold ending too (though the correct one)
Peter Weir's Green Card

12 & 13 are flawed but still wayyyy better than any Terminator sequel, maybe Sarah Connor Chronicles aside. much more understandable they keep trying to make them imo
Lindelof cribbing from Peter Weir twice now (Picnic at Hanging Rock for Leftovers s2, the opening of this for the Lost pilot)
Sulu (leather jacket on top of a leather vest, draped over his shoulders like a pimp's cape) stands opposite a sitting Star Fleet security officer
All the leather and suede jackets in The Search for Spock are pretty good, but Sulu's look has so much swagger

Now more than ever we deserve this
Starmer thinking we lived under a two-party system like the US and not like, a parliamentary system where the base could vote for any other progressive party that got their act together was so hilariously mindless
Weir and Ford do do a good job portraying Father as just eccentric and zany enough that you believe his family would go along with him
(Ford makes many good films after this but feel like he may have had a more varied career if this had been a bigger hit critically)
quite impressed given how Peter Weir is an old Australian white guy how much he doesn't care for the quite colonialist / rugged survivalist mindset
Pancreatic cancer pill shown to nearly double overall survival time, drug company says thehill.com/policy/healt...

sort of watchable movie right? though with a completely separate set of problems to Crystal Skull

Obi-Wan: rarely overtly offensive but wildly unnecessary & several mindless decisions (Ben not killing Vader? Luke in danger?). Every "we got Arya Stark off Temu" Leia scene borderline disastrous. Joel Edgerton a great actor tho so didn't hate them giving Owen his hero moment. 4/10
I did the machete order last time with just the s1 finale before ROTJ but doing the entire show between III and IV seems too psychotic even for me lol
if I was someone who watched the prequels first I would imagine it would slot nicely between III and IV, not really a fan of that way round though
