When good men and women from both parties feel terrified to speak basic facts, democracy has ended.
Democracy requires the ability to state without fear that Z comes after A, and the Pope is Catholic. Like the brain requires oxygen.

While I find your hypothetical creative & dramatic and applaud you for it the reality is that all an enemy has to do is have an infected person cough or sneeze on materials being loaded onto a ship, like food containers that people are likely to touch then tough their eyes, and voila! Flu outbreak.

And then he said: “If you don’t open the Strait of Hormuz, an entire civilization will die tonight.”
So they opened it.
Then he blockaded it.
So they closed it again.
Now he’s demanding they reopen it… so he can close it again.
Great summary. This is like saying "People who don't like hot dogs hate cattlranchers and if you disagree with me you're an ecoterrorist!"
We must use US taxpayer dollars to backstop the UAE
Which is facing economic problems caused by the war Trump started and doesn't know how to win
A war encouraged by leaders of the UAE
Who have given hundreds of millions in bribes to Trump, his family, and associates
Amazon, which saved $4B in taxes under Trump's Big Ugly Bill, has cut 30,000 jobs since last October.
Verizon, which saved $2B, plans to cut 15,000 jobs this year.
Meta, which saved $3B, plans to lay off 20% or more of its workforce.
Trickle-down economics is a cruel joke.
Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.
The Colliseum is back…
…this time, your kids are the gladiators.
Exactly. And further, there are already LLMs that live on one's phone, like Gemma 4, that do 90% of most of what people are using them for, which is making idiotic memes and writing emails, and they don't use a drop of water.

This war is so damn confusing. It’s why we shouldn’t let drunks and dementia patients run it.
In a nutshell. 😊
I read Romeo and Juliet in the 9th grade and now red state theocratic fascists won't allow it to be taught *in college*.
We’re defending Western Civilization by kicking Plato and Shakespeare out of university classes.

So, the U.S. Navy are the Barbary Pirates now?
We've had administrations where the Civil Rights Division took a less watchful eye to the rights of racial minorities or diverted its energies to address other issues, but this is the first administration in history to pervert it wholly into a tool to *hurt* the people its supposed to protect.
Your degree costs $120k and the CEO who won't hire you without one got his job through his dad's golf partner.
(That means yes).
Beer me!
I just looked up the game based on your posts and looks very interesting and beautiful, like Skyrim but in the future. Question: why are all the machines zoomorphic?
Thank you! 🙏
I not only have friends who work in social justice nonprofits I have a close one who works for for a nonprofit that seeks to help the wrongly incarcerated and even she has never, ever used this term that I’ve never heard of.
We have an apparent cure for most people with pancreatic cancer—a profoundly swift, deadly cancer—and the position of the U.S. government is that it should be banned. This is real fall-of-empire stuff.
In MI we have Greek diners but they’re called Coney Islands. As you say they’re pretty ubiquitous & the menus similar.
By contrast I lived in (the hellhole called) Missouri for a few years & they had almost no diners, zero Coney Islands, & just abt no breakfast places save Bob Evans, god save us.
I grew up in Detroit but watched it on Channel 9 out of Windsor in the 80s. As a midwesterner it was my first exposure to the incredible natural beauty and wildlife of the PNW and if impressed me so much that’s where my wife & I honeymooned 10 years later, in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island.
