Also important over the next 5, 10, 20 years time as these vets (and their families) need ongoing medical and mental health care and support. A bit hard to get if your file has been disappeared 😒

These monsters from the Valley act as if their own perspective is the organising principle of reality. They flatten the world until it reflects their own image back at them, and they call it order. They recast dominance as necessity, exclusion as clarity, cruelty as truth-telling. What they are building is not just a politics, but a way of being in which other lives appear as obstacles, or worse, as background.

TBH I think the shrinking of entry level and grad positions says more about mid-level operators and their lack of patience to teach and mentor juniors. People learning the ropes can be annoying and these 40+ year olds would prefer to chuck it in Claude than work with uni grads.

These stunts just highlight that when some military hardware company creates a robotic soldier it will be able to catch us as we try and escape from their concentration camps. This sector needs to be heavily regulated.

All these right wingers who converted to Catholicism in adulthood were just shopping around for an ideology that justified their pre-existing instincts and prejudices. If you convince them that Catholicism means peace and charity they'll just drop it and keep shopping.

I’d say the one person who has sole discretion on launching nuclear weapons also having dementia is a significant ‘exigent public safety hazard’! It is an unacceptable risk - and not just for your own country.

Wow. “There has been a cultural shift, with some young men becoming more conservative and seeking compliant partners. A study by Ipsos, a think-tank, surveying 30 countries, found half of Gen Z men believe women’s rights have gone far enough; 1/3 think wives should always obey their husbands.”

Funny how it’s always about a third of people surveyed who have the dumbest and worst opinions. Add to that 50% of GenZ men thinking women’s rights have gone far enough? No wonder there’s been a precipitous decline in the birth rate. What woman would want to have a baby with this bunch of losers?

The continued escalation in pursuit of the perfect 'decapitation strike' is both evident and alarming

2003: US captures Saddam Hussein alive, like absolute rubes
2011: US sends some guys to shoot Bin Laden
2020: US, chasing the Bin Laden high, drone strikes several military cars to kill Soleimani

Been an editor and audience person in digital newsrooms for 13 years, and the biggest mistake the news industry made was outsourcing the delivery of its product to four social media companies and one search engine instead of treating them all like journalism-hating competition.

It's the "likely created with artificial intelligence" part that kills me. Sure there's a possibility that the President commissioned an artist who worked around the clock over the weekend with oil paints and got the final canvas to his people for them to photograph it just in time for his poast.

Can never get over how tawdry the modern Right's view of Western Civilization is; nothing to build, nothing to aspire to, nothing even really to destroy or wage war against, just sullen resentment of their own children and seething hatred of the cities whose economics subsidies their regimes.
