I admit to being part of the problem when it comes to retro game prices in Japan being much higher than they used to be, but I did find some well-priced games that I was either looking for or have no idea what they are and was willing to take a chance

I think we'll be able to find time for it
I'll have to ask for more things to see for next time. Although I couldn't see everything recommended to me this trip even if I wanted. But I've got a few more days in Tokyo with a loose itinerary if you have thoughts
We only had a brief sojourn to those cities, we're back in Tokyo now. But fortunately we did see Sanjusangendo while we were down there and found a good enough game shop near Kinkaku-ji. Even if we'd known about Den Den Town I'm not sure we'd have had the time to give it its due
I hurt myself today
On a banana peel
I also saw Kinkaku-ji. They don't let you inside but they tell you it's very nice
I got an onomori while I was out and about... I was really taken by the colors. This guards against misfortunes but the track record has already been a little uneven
20 years ago i bought two MOTHER 3 DX boxes – one for myself, one for The Future
a few weeks ago, i took that mint DX with me to Japan and got it signed by Shigesato Itoi
today, it goes up for auction to benefit @wck.org

I feel just a little stupid when I google something like "video games near the temple of the golden pavilion"
Extremely normal and fine for a company to put this in a public statement
@reidman.bsky.social Didn't find one until we got all the way to Osaka but here it is! And according to the instructions it *does* record onto the cassette
Dragon Quest Island is a sweet, fun little place. I liked the onion slimes everywhere
Seeing online friends I've known since 2000 for the first time in ten years has been one of the best parts of this trip, and the next time needs to be after a much shorter gap of time
Exactly one year ago today:
samuel beckett was born on this day 120 years ago. astonishing to think that if he had survived, and could run 100m in 9.57 seconds, he would be not only the oldest but also the fastest man in the world - together with his nobel prize for literature, an astonishing trifecta
The destruction of all search engines is the tech story of the last decade imo
I'll hit you up on messenger this morning (we went to sleep at 8pm and I'm just awake now briefly)
Do we have a better method of communication than BlueSky available
I did. But I have it now
WHAT
It took forever but we're in our room, washing our offensive-smelling travel clothes and bathing
Oh my god we're finally in Japan (but not at hotel yet I imagine that's at least two hours away)
The pink one is great btw
The flight's been delayed by at least four hours so the green rock hasn't brought much luck so far
We're in Montreal but our connecting flight is delayed. I guess that's how they do things up here
Wow check this out
No, it's been smooth sailing. TSA was swift even though they seemed fed up with people not following directions they never gave
I sometimes feel like a rube for being excited for a trip and posting about it when I know that flights and travel are relatively mundane for some folks. But I'm also glad to still have that excitement (even if I'd like to reach a point where flying out for vacations is a routine thing)
Once again bringing a green rock to Japan for luck
