Mort Walker hated grunge. This made me laugh so hard and I've kept it for 30+ years. (I'm mean and have totally thought about posting it after someone writes one of those endless social media eulogies for some musician I couldn't stand...but I don't. I'm not THAT mean.)

Posting my old Village Voice music reviews again in case people missed them and needed some dumbassery from the dawn of the 21st century. Link in comments!
The pilot wasn't great, but the second episode (and beyond) of the new Tracy Morgan show had me LAUGHIN'! Even Harry Potter made me laugh! Not to mention my hero Bobby Moynihan.

Find Vachel's Caedmon album. Well worth owning - even with insensitive Congo poem - if you are an experimental vocal fan. He was ahead of his time. He recorded his poems in 1931. The same year he killed himself via a bottle of lye.

Someone was spinning this at the record show today and I definitely did a double take! For a minute I really thought this was some original version I had never known about. I dig it.

Quaaludes were on the market until 1983.

You should have not saved it better. You didn't not save it good enough!

People buy things every day. I fill it every day. So that it is full. For the people.

Happy Confederate Surrender Day!
Bill Laswell should get a retroactive $800,000 MacArthur genius grant just for the "Rise" 12-inch alone. I played my copy last week and my stereo yelled at me: "I don't GO any louder, idiot!"
This is the funniest hour I have watched in a LONG time. It might even be funnier than the actual show. Lauren Lapkus channeling her inner Jan Hooks.

I detect hints of Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley and also notes of post-The Hurting Roland Orzabel all in one skinny pink ball of Belew. Haven't heard Belew-era KC in forever, and it makes me think I should reevaluate my 42 year old opinion of his tenure in the band.

Fresh as a daisy! 42 years old! When I think of all the bands I shrugged off back then because I thought they were more of the synth-pop same. I'm glad I got old enough to listen with some distance. I usually feel bad for modern bands who think this kind of sound is easy to mimic. It's not.
I watched Russ Meyer's Vixen! for the first time this week.
Rest In Peace, DJ DAN, I will always play THAT ZIPPER TRACK in all its many permutations/remixed forms. It is ASMR-like in its melding of what I love about New Beat and Hardcore and the best tech-house. It's mecha-dope. Peace!

People on the internet love to tell you that there is no such thing as a guilty pleasure and if you like something you should just like it, blah, blah, and that might be true, but if it is why do I want to hold on to this single and then play it sometime when there is NOBODY around? Hmmmm....???
I felt nostalgic for Regina Belle's 1987 hairdo this morning. Which is a very specific nostalgia!
We have something for every child over here at the ol' record store...
I've been listening to a ton of tape mixes i made in the 90s and apparently I never met a tape back then that didn't need a little "Odd Flute". It seems like it anyway. Bring back Hard Beat!
