Letâs make that nickname stick!

Hey, I recognize them! Congrats to all!
I disagree. This is definitely one of those times when I wish I genuinely believed in Hell.
Great video! Can you share the link to the other one you mentioned in ther, about the applicability of group theory within mathematics? (I looked for 1-2 min but didnât find it.) Thanks!
Great short video by @mathandcobb.bsky.social on the applicability of Group Theory!

Thank you for sharing, I had not heard the news of his passing. So sad.
Hope you have some Unicum or pålinka to wash it down with. Egészségedre!
Me, sitting on my back porch, with a small glass of Unicum from a 200 ml bottle that I bought in Budapest in 2002.
Oh no, Iâm too late for coffee. Would you accept a Hungarian apĂ©ritif selfie instead? Just this week only, I promise.
Even better! In Hungary, the surname comes before the given name. So itâs âHungarian Peterâ. đ
These ads were all over the city. On billboards, bus stops, & cards. I canât find digital evidence of any of them, and Iâve tried. My picture is from a physical card I brought home as a souvenir.
I just texted this to a former BSM classmate.
24 years later, this message is rich in irony.

Democracy was a fairly new concept. They were trying to get people to vote, by emphasizing that people from groups oppressed in communist times (in this case, members of the LGTB community), had the freedom to vote.

Hungarian political ad from 2002. Two women, not wearing a shirt, embracing with the slogan: âmegyƱnk szavazni, ĂS TE?â
Fun fact. Last time Orban lost an election as the incumbent, it was 2002. I was living in Budapest đđș, and the city was filled with 3-4 variants of this suggestive political âPG-13â ad.
âWe are going to vote. AND YOU?â

MagyarorszĂĄg!!! đđșđđșđđș
Itâs not a poll, but the big jump was likely in response to one of the top pollsters (AtlasIntel) showing Orban being way behind.
The fact that the odds are as close as they are likely is due to the cheating risk baked in.
The first part is true. The second part is false. Heâs just extract as much money as possible for his family and friends. Biggest corruption scheme in history.
I usually record a solution video, where I also discuss things like common errors, etc.
A WHOLE CIVILIZATION WILL DIE TONIGHT My son needs lunch, and I have to put his backpack together, but a whole civilization will die tonight, so I'm wondering if they've closed their schools. Like, a snow day, maybe, except instead of snow it's "keep your children home so if you die, you die together" â instead of "well open back up once the plows have cleared" it's "we don't know if we'll be here tomorrow, hold your babies tight." It's just "talk" I'm told, which I've been told before. "It's how the president makes his deals." But I've never heard anyone talk about other human beings this way, and I'm not certain I can look my son in the eyes if we all agree to stomach it one more time. A civilization will die tonight, but as I zip up his backpack and kiss him off to school I think: if this is what we call leadership then I'm not entirely sure ours isn't already dead. @michaelfdubois Mukad A QuBoy @michacifdubois
Brutal.
8pm EST? Iâm sure itâs just a coincidence that thatâs precisely when after-hours trading ends?
Thereâs no I-50 anywhere. Or I-60 for that matter.
Wow, his French is so much easier for me to understand than any of those characters on Duolingo! đ
Hey #MathSky! Now that we have a direct contact with the NYT Games Team, this is our chance to tell them about all of the legitimate math words that Spelling Bee wonât accept. If you remember any specific ones, reply with them here. Letâs make a list!
Omg, this is amazing! đ€©
I was shouting âGuinea-Bissauâ at my TV! đ
I loved the anecdote about your crossword streak. Right as you shared that, my wife turned to me and said: âomg, itâs so obvious that sheâs a math professor!â đđ
You really couldnât find a synonym for that 4th word, Scott?
Iâm not sold that paying off an NYT photographer would even work, especially one as decorated as the guy who took it. Or that theyâd even risk trying it. If that image didnât exist, I would probably be all in on it being faked.
And here I am thinking that this was posted to make fun of Kristi Noelâs husband, whose face I just assumed was photoshopped in.
The one detail from Butler that I canât explain away is the NYT photographerâs picture of the bullet by his ear. If it wasnât for that, I would absolutely believe it were faked. But I just donât see how that would have been done. Iâm open to explanations if you have oneâŠ
But WHERE did you sleep last night?
That would be Donald Knuth
