Everything about this poem is perfect, but most especially the little toolkit

I could expand, but I think I'll just keep listening to the same two songs that I've looped through the horrors of the last month

A picture of a library shelf with a small rolled up note on it. The note says “read this” in child’s handwriting.

A picture of the note unrolled. In the same child’s handwriting it reads “beware of the future!!”

Still thinking about this note I found in the children’s section of the public library when I worked there back in 2018. This kid tried to warn us…

You can’t write good poetry if you’re not honest with yourself.

to me, this ^ is a poem

and also, I'm very sorry that is how it affected you. the damage is real and worthy of grief. I remain hopeful that some kind of healing can come for all of us with LC đź«‚

HE TELLS HER

He tells her that the Earth is flat—
He knows the facts, and that is that.
In altercations fierce and long
She tries her best to prove him wrong.
But he has learned to argue well.
He calls her arguments unsound
And often asks her not to yell.
She cannot win. He stands his ground.
The planet goes on being round.

we’ve talked a lot about how AI might con people into believing bad things, but it is sad to think of how it will also make us stop believing in wondrous things too
