You don't even have to lie or to embellish the story. Just leave enough unsaid and ambiguity to allow people more comfortably fill the spaces with their own assumptions. (Not like people wouldn't make their assumptions anyway.)

I agree, perhaps I worded badly. Still, there's a huge difference between being uncomfortable and hating. Besides, my point is that reaching some clarity about one's own feelings (especially when so intense) is in itself helpful to at least find hints on how to "come out of it". 1/2
Excuse my arrogance but, IMO, the very fact that you wrote all of that on a social network means you don't really "hate humans" (not all of them, at least). Dispassionately looking inside yourself and trying to identify what it really is, that you now call "hating humans", could help you.
Especially since, often, they seem to entirely negate the possibility of friendship (or rivalry) between same-sex characters, without it entailing "something else". It's like the polar opposite of the "(cishet) males and females can't be friends" trope, and I find it equally problematic. 4/4
Then, of course, readers and spectators can interpret things however they choose. I'm not one to argue against fan theories, ships etc. Just, I find it jarring when such theories are dogmatically presented as if the undeniable truth, the only possible interpretation. 3/4
If you wish a character to be "secretly" gay, and in love with another, you WILL find all the "hidden hints" to confirm your theory, akin to how conspiracy theories work. That doesn't make "your" vision canonical, in the strict sense of "what the original author's intentions were." 2/4
IMO, while certainly some authors wrote/write "undercover" LGBTQ+ characters (for all the imaginable reasons), it's also true that readers / viewers project their preferences, desires and expectations on the works they like. That's especially likely when there's dire lack of representation. 1/4
