A country where some of its citizens are the richest people in the world is rather different than being the richest country in the world in the only way that shows that correctly. And that’s wealth per median citizen. A XXX trillion debt as a country makes that distention very clear.

And the vast majority of MAGA belongs to that lower quality demographic. And they know this, hence their adherence to racism in an effort to mitigate this situation for them.

It’s just part of the “government for sale” principle that has been a hallmark of the USA for decades. Trump et al. only made it into a speciality.

Most people in the USA will be woefully underestimating the economic effects a demise in global importance of the petrodollar will have on the USA’s economy. Having to offer a higher interest rate on treasury bonds, with all its flow on effects, will be one of them.

In the USA, this has been going on for a few decades at least.
