Hello darkness, my old friend...
One in five children infected in the recent London measles outbreak were reportedly hospitalised.
Don’t believe the anti-vaxxers when they say “it’s a mild disease” or “it’s better to get immunity naturally”.
It isn’t.
The consequence of this is that local municipal authorities have ended up having to process one of the biggest consultations they've ever had to deal with, over a fucking outdoor swimming pool, at great expense, to find out that the majority of people do not support transphobia.
Feel like this early entry to #duvetknowitschristmas will be hard to beat. Though I do hope the Bedside Table of Chastity makes an appearance again. Do follow along and donate to @centrepointuk.bsky.social if you can.
Also, Julian has been a joy. An amazing partner and teacher to Bal and a properly lovely chap.
Did they ChatGPT an asylum refusal?
And in other news, the Pope appears to be Catholic. What gave it away? The collapsing ceiling in one of the courtrooms, narrowly missing an usher? The cells that flood every now and then, closing the court to custodies? The persistent vermin problem?
My experience is the opposite - it’s men after relationships end (some very short). I’ve found the fixation on a vague acquaintance to be more unusual.
Had to buy emergency Skechers last year due to sudden plantar fasciitis. They are now my favourites.
A photograph of the late Janey Godley holding a placard saying ‘Trump Is a Cunt’ whilst a police officer looks on.
Posting this in memory of the brilliant Janey Godley who would be out there now protesting, if only she could.

The Modern Slavery Act was a Theresa May (broken clock moment) creation.
It contains all the tools and obligations to tackle MS at the root.
It relies on treating victims as victims. This is the problem, though. That is seen as a dodge by police etc so they get low hanging fruit, not bosses.
Which court Nick?
Once upon a time there was a prohibition.
Some claimed it was justified by things we could not be told, others insisted it was right in principle.
But many said it was one of the most illiberal and misconceived prohibitions they had ever seen.
And in practice the prohibition was very daft indeed.
Asylum Seekers can't claim benefits, the money for their accommodation goes straight to the rich Conservative Hotel owners, they can't get Council Houses, and they WANT to work.
Good day.
I prosecute and defend the most serious sexual offences in our courts.
The overwhelming majority of offenders are British-born. Overwhelmingly the victim is someone known to them, either a partner or relative.
Anybody purporting to care about protecting women might start there.
Kudos for “senile satsuma” 👏🏼
The result of the votes of my fellow criminal barristers on #Leveson solidifies my firmly held belief that my colleagues prize real justice and fairness over themselves, over their careers and over budgets and money and makes me really proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with these wonderful people.
Was it Ryan Giggs?
In a word, no.
Fexofenadine is your friend. Trust me.
Dear USA
Deploying troops against civilians will not go well.

Can’t believe I agree with JRM on anything, yet here he is. The perfect example of a stopped clock.
I have experienced this already over the last fortnight. It made no difference to me or to the way the trial proceeded. It does make a difference to those who cannot stand, who then get singled out for failing to do so. Acknowledging that disabled or frail people exist harms nobody.
Preeeeetty sure I had this poster on my wall.
Slight tangent, but I also find it interesting that the single women in our folklore and fairy tales (even the widowed ones) are so often evil, witches and/or crones. As if single women are just *bad*.
