Depends on how erotic the horror novel you’re in is.

Everybody always forgets about the tortured and flayed guy they left strung up in the basement.
Do I still count as a vampire if all I suck is c— (I am forcibly removed from my keyboard with a vaudeville hook)
All the boys love the way I’m cold to the touch and covered in a mysterious slime.
Look, who among us hasn’t accidentally exposed their best friend to the experimental chemical they were testing and turned him into some kind of horny beast-man. Yes, we’re very happy together. Thank you for asking.
Everybody’s asking why I installed that lever in my mad science lab that blows up the building and, look, all I can say is that it made sense at the time.
And there, I saw… oh it was horrible! Some kind of manimal. It was a manster, like a manotaur or a manstodon. A manstrosity, practically a mantosaurus! I don’t know what crawled out of mandora’s box that night - a tarmantula, or a mandroid, or a manana, or the most dangerous animal of all… man!!!
You can get through a lot of situations in life by just being confident about not knowing things.
thinking of getting into some new vices, failings, possibly foibles, etc. if anyone has any that they personally recommend

It will give you a far greater understanding of the world and make you a more interesting person if you follow the chain of influences on the things that you like as far back as you can go.
Saw this tumblr post by @stjohnstarling.bsky.social on here today that I think is good advice.
Charlie Browns mom: Waaah wah wah wah waaah waaah waaah wah
Charlie Brown: oh, you mean pigpen
Charlie browns mom: Wah way. Waaaah wahwahwah wah wah waaah waaaah wahwhawah wah wah
Charlie Brown: yeah I get that. It’s pretty bad over there but I don’t think they hit him
will have a disproportionate amount of power compared to the mass of scattered and disorganized users.
This is actually what the right wing influencer ecosystem did in the run-up to the 2024 election. The puzzle is how to do this kind of thing in a pro-social way.
Smaller groups of people whose primary social venue is somewhere off of social media, who co-operate to use social media towards a particular end (whether that's broadcasting a political idea or establishing a genre of music) -
oh god I think I'm describing digital workers' councils.
It seems to me that a much better way of structuring the internet is having many smaller groups of people interlinking with one another, with varying scales of each group, and maybe with larger social hubs having lots of smaller sub-groups which each have some decision making power within the whole
It also disempowers each of us, because the larger the group you're in, the less of a difference your input makes to the group as a whole. People are both more equal and more powerful when they are in smaller social environments.
Extremely large numbers of people congregated in the same place actually increases inequality between them, because in a space with millions of people, those with the means to reach large numbers of people at once have little upper limit on how much social power and influence they can accumulate.
It is good that you want to socialize in a place where that is not a factor - that's a healthy social instinct and it comes from a desire for general social equality - but going into denial about the situation we're all in just clouds our judgement.
Follower counts are a real, material form of social inequality, because a large follower count represents broadcasting power. People with more followers straightforwardly have more power to shape the views of the shared social environment.
People insist they don't care about follower counts, but that mostly obscures the actual stakes of the situation -
Bluesky as always reenergizing me to fight for trans rights with the dream that one day the many trans people who just want the freedom to live their lives and be themselves will feel secure enough to turn to another trans person and be like "Leave me out of your ten car pile-up of bullshit."
The alternative is to fall prey to the illusions of the unknowable online space, like voices heard in white noise.
We need to remember that theoretical people do not matter. If you can’t identify someone real that you know and describe their specific qualities and behaviours, it’s not worth worrying about.
In order to rebuild a culture worth living in we have to ignore the way the internet tries to trick us into thinking in terms of mass scale and operate entirely concretely - who do you know? What can they do? How can you connect them?
The epochal degree to which all of the arts, entertainment, and media is in economic upheaval right now means that as many of us as possible who want to make a living in any of these fields need to be thinking about how they interface with the economy as deeply as we can.
Short version is that AI cannot replicate human thought and is therefore only really possible to use for writing where the meaning of the text is secondary or irrelevant - writing whose value hinges on transactions - instead of writing that's fully integrated into complex interpersonal relationships
I really think that Marx's theory of alienation is key to coming up with a coherent stance on AI in art SORRY
