Grains by Leif [AI, code, and quiet progress from Astana]

From AI PTSD to Happyness - I was deep in an AI SaaS in 2023 with an awesome team, but the pace and a big move overwhelmed me. So I left and took a long break. grains.leifjerami.com/post/from-ai...

Is it just me, or is everyone acting like Anthropic’s PR lately? “Claude Code this, Claude Code that,” and barely any talk about their own products.🤷🏼‍

Folks, what’s the best conversational AI model for chat (no coding) right now?

Watching Pluribus right now. It really reminds me of the AI we use every day.

Indeed. Tools are ready, just lacking ideas and inspo.

I'm a solo AI agency now, not much of SaaS maker. Building customized AI tools for small businesses.

Funny how things turned out.

I was deep in an AI SaaS (2023), awesome team, but the pace & the big move overwhelmed me. So I left & took a long break.

Fast forward to now: I quietly build small, useful AI apps for people - nothing flashy, and I’m happier than before.

Yeah it's my daily driver now. But I still keep OpenCode as backup. Their free Big Pickle and Grok Code Fast 1 are very good.

Republic Day tomorrow, public holiday today. Driving up to Burabay in a rental. First time left-hand side driving here. Mountains, lakes, ~300 km from Astana. No work, no laptop for 1–2 days. One night booked, maybe two. The chonky cat’s on guard. Wish him luck!🐈

Just realized that September 2025 marks two years since my first serious dive into AI by joining an AI SaaS. I left not long after, lol, but that was the starting point. Time flies.

Not sure I should share this, but some forty‑y—#$%^& follow me. 😉

2025: no more delulu startup/SaaS grind.
"Part‑time" tech support + AI gigs, and I’m the happiest since COVID.

Moral: dreams need deadlines; 5 years was too long for me.

Leif Latiff I’m an AI-tech generalist. I build simple AI and automation solutions for anyone interested in making things work better.

Gave leifjerami.com a fresh revamp with a new direction—more niche than just being a tech generalist. 80% of my work since the start of 2025 has been about setting up AI in work and business environments, so it feels right to really focus on that.

I’ve been busy returning to work, but it’s time to integrate this into the whole stack. Before that, I need to reset the layout.

Spent the week juggling code, family, and a few curveballs (thanks @drodol.com 😉). Still here, still curious.

To LLM or not to LLM, that is the question. But where dost thou seek, and why dost thou choose?🤔

Saw this: "Even the heaviest clouds eventually move on." But what if there’s no cloud? How do you move on?

I saw on LinkedIn that someone claimed people who use the “em-dash”—are probably using AI to write.

Meh, I love ’em—dash! I can—stack—’em—all—I—want!

Pro tip: Spend 99% of your time hunting for the best MCPs and agents. The rest? Totally optional.

Tried the Dia browser and was surprised by how slick and smooth it is.

AI writing is not bad, and the chat-to-tab feature made replying emails easy. Code assistant is on par!

Bookmark import could be better (used Arc & Brave), & I miss Arc’s sidebar for keeping my tabs organized and clutter-free.

ignore this if you want to stay broke lol, jk

real talk: i "stopped" coding when i started my boring biz last year. a year later—i'm making more, working less, and finally feel in control.

chasing too many things kept me stuck.

focus on one thing. go all in.
