Watching the 2018 movie The Predator, what a wild movie. So much happening so quickly: snipers, madmen, motorbikes, alien Predators, quips, betting on insane situations in insane situations, regular Tourette’s and autism gags, biologists signing up for insane team ups with no good reason. Wild.

Plano storage box, with metal plates stuck in and magnetized Blood Bowl miniatures.
Storage solutions, the unsung hero of minis gaming….
This is my go to for small model count minis games - a Plano box and metal plates so the magnetized minis stay in place.

Tomb Kings Blood Bowl team, assembled and with basing sand applied.
I think I’ll do a desert themed base for these Tomb Kings. Not sure how to get it done, but I’ll start with this and see if I can paint it to look like sand…

I have thoroughly enjoyed running this game (and yes, I am biased). When I wrote it I designed it to run a short campaign, but this has really pushed well beyond that. I am thrilled with how everything is holding together mechanically. It also helps that this is a setting I adored when writing it.
In the last two sessions the characters have found the links that draw everything together: rebellion, the hope for freedom, and the course to set promises made to rest. They don't know it yet, and to be fair I didn't know it until we ran through these sessions, but a direction has come into focus.
When we started, I had no idea and no real plan for where it was headed, but that we might play a few sessions and see how it goes. Now there are multiple plot lines, a host of NPCs the characters can call upon in a tight spot, and rumours of their exploits are the tales told by tavern fires.
The cover of Corsairs, showing a square rigged ship flying through the sky toward an island shrouded in clouds.
Ran a session of Corsairs tonight, my game of sky ships and floating islands. We've been playing this now for a bit over a year. The characters have risen in reputation and amassed a small flotilla of ships, it has been a blast. Will they manage to bloody the nose of the empire that hounds them?

Tomb Kings Blood Bowl team assembled.
Tomb Kings Blood Bowl team, assembled! Now I have to decide on a colour scheme…
The Ash Waste Nomads I painted last year had so many layers over the top of layers it was a right pain in the arse. They look great, but wow.
The Blood Bowl Tomb Kings I am currently assembling feel the same, but to a lesser degree.
My Bretonnian team, all done! It’s taken me a good while, but I’m thrilled they’re done!

Once again I'm thinking of a piratical robot with one skin coloured leg, called Long John Flesh.
I'll start, am I the only one who thinks we could chain a bunch of these together to make the most annoying social media post the character limit will allow (or have I done just that...). :D
Started reading The Faith of Beasts, the second book in the Captive's War series by James S. A. Corey. I really enjoyed the first book, and am loving getting back into the worlds of the Carryx in this one.
Finished reading Spinning Silver, by @naominovik.bsky.social. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the reflection of the winter realm in the mundane world, and the way the various character's paths wound together. Like Uprooted and the Summer War, I loved the depiction of the fae.
Played Rise to Nobility on the weekend and I liked it a lot. I've apparently played it before, but I had no recollection of it. A good game with lots to think about and lots to do. It feels like it could play quite quickly once a passing familiarity with the rules and game flow are understood.
Played Forest Shuffle in person on the weekend, I really like this game, but the physical act of tucking cards, and the interactivity of how the cards score make the online version so much easier to play. A great little game though, I thoroughly enjoy it in whatever form.

Another Blitzer done, one more mini in my Bretonnian team to do! Very pleased to have this one done!

I did a half-baked review/early thoughts sort of brain dump on Mouse Guard, the role playing game.
The tl;dr version: I like games that mechanise narrative and setting elements in interesting ways...

There's a review of my game Owlbear Omlette over on RPGGeek!
This sort of thing really does make me smile, it is quite rare to get feedback, reviews, opinions, or play reports from the games I have made - so I love seeing it when it does happen!
Thanks!

Latest Brettonian mini painted... Slowly getting through them!
Half Way to Bretonnia... half my Blood Bowl team is painted, and that is something of an achievement given the pace at which I'm working. I'm happy with the results though - you can check out the team (so far) here:

One of my first RPG experiences was WEG Star Wars, but I have enjoyed the FFG version a lot. Well worth a look.
Some I am interested in include Nibiru and Orbital Blues.
Or, if you're after something indie with a pretty unique system, I'd be more than happy to shoot you a PDF of my game Rascals.
I haven't played BR yet, but I thoroughly enjoyed Midgard (maybe that dates me somewhat 😂 ).
