we just got an email saying we have to do the pledge of allegiance every day at the start of 2nd block and teachers have to lead it themselves or can show a video. I’m pretty sure Im gonna end up in trouble over this

thank you, i needed that
I have 4 decades of activist memories. Not all were direct action, but many. My participation ebbed and flowed with life circumstances.
Today I am grieving the death of my brother; I’m planning on going camping tomorrow.
I’m not in denial, I’m clinging desperately to what I know. Nature heals.
I can’t believe there is nothing we can do to stop this. WE DON’T WANT THIS. This is so very wrong.

You might find it surprising that a teacher would leave a district b/c of its technology team. But I teach tech so their decisions have greater impact on me I guess. Such a damn shame.
Everything is awful, and urgent.
And my little brother died yesterday unexpectedly, heart attack.
Im torn up. I want to share to all my friends: live well, love fiercely.
How can Americans tell Iranians that we are SO sorry about the horrific loss of schoolgirls? We don’t support this and we grieve. How can we communicate that to the mothers of those precious children?
Same for my HighSchool students.
My students ask great questions. Today it was “why does a war against Iran raise gas prices?” This is in an adobe premier pro class.
They are paying attention.
Good one to bring up in your local city council meetings:
"Why are you putting us at risk for retaliation by Iran? They are targeting datacenters run by defense contractors like OpenAI, AWS, Microsoft, etc"
Tomorrow is an ‘optional’ teacher workday. For a moment I convinced myself I would go in, get ahead, not burn a day. HAHAHAHA no.
Im glad he is ok! Scary stuff
Anthropic could never have bought the goodwill now coming their way. No marketing budget coulda been big enough.
My students are working on “dear historian” videos. They speak to historians 50 years from now on a topic they think historians will write about and share their perspectives about living through it. I’ll stitch them together, a video time capsule.
These kids!!! We are gonna be ok.
that IS something! the universe loves you
You can get a free canvas teacher account and create a class on instructure (the co that owns canvas). www.instructure.com/canvas/login
I promise that there are digital artists who will create beautiful alternative to this shitshow, I teach high school, my kids will step up.
It does make me as a survivor sad to see that crimes against us are not as important as financial crimes.
PD today, topic was AI in special populations. It was an online course, obviously written in part by AI and educators had to answer discussion questions to complete the pd. Educators clearly used ai to answer.
What 👏are 👏we 👏doing👏?
It warms my heart to see (fellow) white people standing up against the horrible actions of our govt. The white man at his first protest, the brown hoodied student, the white woman wine mom with the molotov. It feels like the tide is turning.
parents, organize at your school board meeting around dropping this contract for school pics and yearbooks

I made this song in my studio, alone, just an hour away from where horrific events took place. This song was later recorded with some talented friends coming together to get this done. Thank you all.

Those had huge impact on me. Yeah a loop, a spiral.
I’m better able to deal now. Hope everyone from that time can say the sane.
And you!
We get a wonderful view of these shitty times. Patterns, similarities, shadows, reflections.
Fascinating
I believe WTO (1999) was the first time activists used “the internet” (then it was listserves) to coordinate and plan. I was tech momma for one of these listserves (funkyfungus).
