In fairness at least they have the decency to put it out of the way and let you turn it off.
A screenshot of DuckDuckGo search results. The first two are obituaries for Trevor Lock, the policeman involved in the Iranian embassy siege. The third is a Search Assist panel claiming that Trevor Lock is an English comedian who's still alive. Which might be true, to be fair, but rather misses the point.
DuckDuckGo's Search Assist is...not very good at this.
You know any good PokΓ©mon TTRPGs?
Absolutely. AI companies aren't tracking who's using it ironically and discounting them from the stats π
I love all the people going "I've told the AI not to behave like an AI so it doesn't count as using AI".
I'm going to tell my car not to be a car, then it won't produce any pollution because it'll just be me walking along the road at 60mph.
At least this one is whimsically stupid rather than shockingly cruel stupid?
Update: he did NOT appreciate me drawing a silly face on him.
Turned out pretty good though! This is from another Johnny Layton video: youtu.be/mdStjAgTOiM?...
A small carving of a man in a long robe with what looks like a huge smiling mouth. Three tiny pencil marks look like eyes and a nose.
I feel it's important to have fun with your carvings along the way.
Plus this guy is being somewhat uncooperative so his punishment is a silly face.
So is this a TTRPG prompt or the forecast for next week?
"Exciting new mandatory position behind the chemical sheds. You'll be taken there by these two armed career advisors, who will provide the necessary bullet-related professional development for you."
I mean we're not that far off, right?
This looks really good! Just skimming the text, the layout is really solid and it feels like it'd flow well at the table π
I feel very boring for saying that, but that's the first thing I look for in a new TTRPG these days.
This is why we're not seeing an explosion of amazing art created with AI.
It seems like the difficulty of making art is necessary to sift the "great" ideas from actually great ideas. It sucks, but while you're learning to do the making, you're also learning to identify what's worth the trouble.
We have a whole subplot in my game about what magic is used for when you're not using it to be a murderhobo.
Think how much money you could make if you could guarantee people a good night's sleep at-will!
My brain is a confusing maze of synesthesia, however, so it's entirely possible that comparison makes no sense to anyone else π
His carvings remind me a bit of the art of Ronald Searle, which may or may not sound complimentary but I really like both of them π I think it's the strong edges, and the curious balance between attention to detail and just hinting at things with a few lines/cuts.
A wooden knight with a sword, a shield and a helmet, seen from the front.
A wooden knight with a sword, a shield and a helmet, seen from the left side to show the shield better.
A wooden knight with a sword, a shield and a helmet, seen from the right side to show the sword better.
I think I've mentioned before that I find @johnnythelayton.bsky.social's style fascinating. It's quite different to my usual carvings but the finished pieces are so beautiful that I keep coming back to it!
This is the pawn from youtu.be/pJOXKEa7XL4.
TTRPGs! Trans rights! What's not to love?
Yeah that sounds fine. I'm sure it won't go horribly wrong when they inevitably get hacked and everyone gets to see the deep dark secrets you told to the slop box.
Trust me, it will. I make software and in the words of xkcd, "our entire industry is bad at what we do and you shouldn't trust us" π
Everything I do beyond basic survival stuff is because I enjoy doing it, or I want to get good at it, or both. AI removes both options.
Now if someone would like to crack on and automate the boring basic survival stuff...
So fancy! βΊοΈ
I definitely spoke too soon π€£
wouldn't it be funny if EVERYONE blocked this Attie AI account @ bsky.app/profile/atti... before they could do anything with it
Looks like it's followed by slightly more people than are blocking it, but hopefully we can tip the balance.
...so basically me as a teenager, now I think about it...
Oh wow that's... painful. I especially like the first one, it's like it was written by someone who REALLY loves their (bland) world building and desperately needs to have their thesaurus confiscated π€£
I'm now intrigued to know what the worst one you've seen is π just how bad can it get?
Fascinating that people point to ChatGPT as a kind of authority. I'm seeing this at work too, people saying "(current favourite slop generator) says so" like that carries any weight and they're not notorious for being utterly full of shit.
I don't even use Google Assistant but I'd still rather have that as the setting, just in case.
A screenshot of a survey asking why I'm switching back to Google Assistant. The text box simply says "slop".
Aaaand done.
I think I got them all but it's like trying to remove Japanese knotweed from your phone some days.
