To be in public office right now is to constantly ask yourself: How do I make sure I'm standing on the right side of history?

There's a simple answer.

The wrong side of history will always tell you to be afraid - the right side of history will always expect you to be brave.

I just really need everybody to understand that everything that’s happening in and to the global economy now (and all the businesses and people in it) is the entirely predictable result of the intentional decisions of one guy who doesn’t understand how the global economy works.

Even when the political winds shift, science must keep moving forward.
That’s why @AGU and @ametsoc are stepping up with a first-of-its-kind special collection on climate change in the U.S.—across 29+ peer-reviewed journals. 🌍📚

Demand action. Not “answers.” What are you wanting answers to? Answers that will twist the truth and delay real action? Stop framing statements like we are waiting for explanations. We are wanting action to stop that which is plain for all to see.

Carbon majors and the scientific case for climate liability - Nature A transparent and reproducible scientific framework is introduced to formalize how trillions in economic losses are attributable to the extreme heat caused by emissions from fossil fuel companies, whi...

NEW: Fossil fuel firms like Chevron and Exxon owe the world trillions of dollars. Today in @nature.com, @jsmankin.bsky.social and I show economic losses from rising heat waves directly traceable to these firms, providing scientific support for climate accountability.

Trump’s EPA Plans to Stop Collecting Greenhouse Gas Emissions Data From Most Polluters Climate experts expressed shock and dismay at the move. “It would be a bit like unplugging the equipment that monitors the vital signs of a patient that is critically ill,” one said.

#ProudBlue

Looks like Prohect 2025 is pushing on. The EPA plans to end long-standing rules requiring polluters to report climate-warming emissions.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

Agree with Diane. Leaving people without heat in places like Minnesota is unhealthy, unkind, unethical, destroys a person’s only shelter, etc. Thank you @smith.senate.gov for fighting for our neighbors where you can.
Big fights everywhere…keep it going and make sure they follow through.

Hey all. Please call your reps and get these tariffs under the control of Congress again and erased from the books.
We need housing. We are looking at 25%+ construction increases with tariffs. No one wins in a trade war.

While no places in the Contiguous U.S. had a record warmest March, nearly everywhere was warmer than normal and a very large area was much warmer than normal.

Thank you, @smith.senate.gov !!! 🙌🏼 This matters. Keep it going.

This matters. I hope a parade of senators do this and start to slow and stop the government in protest. We need hope out here. And the Senator “filibustering” by reading our letters matters. It’s important to watch him impacted by what he is reading, too. Thank you.

As an eternal optimist, I hate this 🧵. But we need to know that 3 degrees of warming, while catastrophic, isn’t a limit. We can deny climate change and increase our emissions -as MAGA wants- and do even worse. It’s our job to make sure that doesn’t happen. Our collective future is at stake.

“Every fraction of a degree of warming matters…For example, every additional 0.1°C of global warming causes clearly discernible increases in the intensity and frequency of temperature and precipitation extremes, as well as agricultural and ecological droughts..”

We didn’t seem to factor in the current “screw you, I don’t care, I’m going to make it worse if it’s true” scenario?
That seems to be the US plan. And, cynically, banks are betting on AC companies.
Now is the time to stand up for #democracy and #fightclimatechange
So much is at stake. NOW.

All the charts I’ve seen over the decades show global warming trends based on when we take action or if we continue as we were.
These were based off of reasonable assumptions of human responses: quick realization, slow realization, or ignore and do nothing.
But…

A stark reminder that climate scientists have been conservative in their assessments-or thought presenting all the data would propel change.
Instead, this US government plans to accelerate destruction-including privatizing and destroying national parkland.
