I think I got your first one when I went down at 5pm. Long way down the pontoon and dull light but I think itβs the same one.

Thatβs hilarious - that second one just landing in there! π Casps are obviously fans of the rain..
Great shots Jake π
Great pics, Steph. Compare this one with my pics of Jakeβs bird last Friday - current bird is much bulkier but with muckier underwings.
Very kind Rob - but to be fair Jake first spotted that it was probably a different bird! Amazing there are so many about at the moment though. Great to see. π
Maybe - that would be quite remarkable! Could be light, weather and distance playing tricks?
1W Caspian Gull in Brixham this afternoon. Distant but stayed more or less in the same place.. Good to see @shiphaybirder.bsky.social and @devonshirenature.bsky.social too. My own distant photos below.
What do you think are the differences?
Very nice π
Day spent yesterday at #Dartington Hall for our Torbay Symphony Orchestra concert. Beautiful location and gorgeous music. Also a two Barn Owl day! One seen on the estate at around 4.30pm. Then, driving home after the concert, saw another on a fence post by Sandridge Barton π. Remarkable!
Why do I do it?
This is why ππΆ
Slightly closer, twig-infested video of the Black Redstart in our garden again this morning. Can also hear the Blackcap countering away nearby. #brixham
Finally got a bit of video of the Black Redstart thatβs been around our #Brixham garden over the winter. I havenβt ever heard it calling before today. Lovely little fella.
This Blackcap has been giving it the beans in an adjacent garden over the last week. Presumably still a wintering Northern European / Scandinavian bird warming up before heading back? π
Black Redstart around our Brixham garden for the last few days. Presumably this is the same overwintering bird that was last seen in December. Juv / Fem type. ππ
Heard the gulls going mad at 2.20 this afternoon and rushed outside to see what it was - a White-tailed Eagle heading over Brixham! π
Later seen heading down the Teign and over Teignmouth.
Very pleased with that garden tick!
Wow - that looks even smarter than Shoalstone shelter! π. Looks like a great trip π
Lovely. Where abouts was that this morning Bill? Same fields as recently? I came up about 20 mins after this and missed it!
Blackcap with pollen around face and beak after feeding on Camellia flower.
Blackcap apparently feeding on nectar from Camellia flower.
Two male Blackcaps around some next door Brixham gardens over the weekend. They were apparently feeding on the nectar in these Camellia flowers. You can see the pollen all over the face of this one. Apparently Blackcaps regularly feed on nectar- I imagine not that often in December!
Thanks Josh π wouldnβt have been bold enough to name them if you hadnβt done - so thank you! And thanks for the initial message to get me out there π
Update - Looks Like Paignton Zoo are missing a Juvenile Chilean Flamingo...
Drove over to Torcross and Beesands on Friday in the sunshine. With some help from a much better birder, found the Lesser Scaup and the Ring-necked Duck. On the way back past Slapton Ley, I clocked a big white egret and managed to pull back in and get a better look: GWE π
