I'm not trying to say she won't help team culture or deny the potential appeal to a big part of the fan base, but it's not something you hear very often at draft time.

I read your article on Jaquez, but would you have picked her or gone with someone else? She was lower ranked on all the mock drafts I saw. I'm fine with drafting for need rather than best player available, but when I read the line about their reason for drafting her partly about team "culture"...
Oh, I have an excuse: anyone who says "____ are inbred" is an evil person and anyone who doesn't treat them as evil is garbage. Is it a purity test like those used to excuse not voting for Kamala Harris? Yes. Can I defend it? Easily.
heat from her haters - Cardoso has been an bust to-date and was drafted four picks ahead of Reese. I was a fan when she was at LSU, including the trash-talk with Caitlin Clark, but her wild applause of Carter's cheap shot was nauseating. I'm excited for this year's team.
Oh please, not only was Reece equally culpable (it's extraordinary to trash your teammates the way she did - you can almost feel their seething in the icy comments to reporters afterwards), she's a good-not-great player and the team got fair value back in the trade. She *did* take excessive (ctd)

First time I visited Canada, the first hour was underwhelming. Seemed just like the states. Then all these little differences started adding up (metric system, weird songs on the radio, fast food chains I never heard of). Then the near-unrelenting friendliness. W/in a day I was in love.
Naw - geezer fan here who goes back to the ABL - the hate wasn't justified (Cardoso has been the true bust) but anyone watching her all season saw she's a good but not great player whose stats were padded, and then she trashed her teammates. Atl better win now bc they'll have cap issues in 2 years.
They didn't stumble: they got perfectly fair value for Reese (a good player whose stats are somewhat padded and great rebounding offset by shooting), wouldn't have the other players if they kept her (not to mention the terrible chemistry after she trashed her teammates).
People have such polarized opinions on Reese, but if you asked in a vacuum to choose between two low-#1 picks and a third year player with a 7th overall pick, I think most would go with the former. (And I think Reese is maybe a little better than that, but has padded stats and not a great shooter.)
Did the Sky trade the overseas player they drafted in the first round last year? Otherwise they have her too (plus whoever they pick tonight)
So are her parents - maybe this is one we should sit out.
Why do you doubt that AIPAC is American and is funded by Americans who think being allied with Israel is in the USA's interest? There's not enough wealthy Zionists in America that would contribute to it?
Maybe because a significant minority (including some of us who have worked for intervention in genocides for decades) disagree and the party doesn't want a UK Labor-like civil war that kept the Conservatives in power for a decade and a half.
*many people are saying* it sure looks like the White House wrote this for Pakistan’s PM, who posted it then quickly deleted the top part 😬
is why Cardoso doesn't get much grief thrown at her - drafting her #2 is worse than any of the Reese stuff. Similarly, other than the Clippers, is there a more farcical pro sports team than the Fire? Other than building nice, if needless, stadiums, what have they ever done on the field?
The Sky have institutional failure, but it's hard to see them and not Reese as the primary force that sent her out of Chicago. Come on, the team did nothing to warrant Reese's public attack on the team, who clearly despised her afterwards - any meeting would been transparent bs. What I don't get
May the Sky's fate turn on which one of us is correct about that assertion.
Now we just need Portland to make the playoffs, package the two #1 picks for a top-4, and we're off!
But at least AK wasn't a "we're smarter than everyone else in the room" pick - other teams were looking at him and he did a good job in Denver. My bigger worry with ownership is that they'll try to rush the rebuild - they're fine with mired-in-mediocrity.
Not to let the Sky management off the hook for a legion of things, but this is fine and might be a win-win trade. Sky need to rebuild - two first rounders for Reese is good value (admittedly, I only see her as a "good-not-great" player, but Cardoso is a much bigger reason).

The moment one criticizes Zionism without criticizing the partition of India, Sudan, and the semi-partition of Iraq (to provide some autonomy for the Kurdish area.
Between the midterms and the next Congress - they had the votes to pass the BBB and more, nobody has bolted n the House, and now you're telling Thune etc. to step aside in the senate. Dems don't get their turn until they win all three branches, with GOP having structural advantage in the Senate & EC
First explain why, even if the Dems win both chambers of Congress in the midterms (unlikely), the Republicans wouldn't ram through a truckload of legislation in December that wouldn't get vetoed, including another round of "election integrity" legislation.
Tangent but I'm surprised his anti-catholic beliefs didn't get more media attention. Also wondering if anyone ever asked him how he justified playing on Sundays (seriously - if his answer is that Christ freed man from the Commandments then why get hung up over passages like in Leviticus?)
Or a slight alternative: Ellison was willing to sacrifice CBS news for Trump to get a lucrative Paramount deal he believes more than makes up for the loss.
Illegal (though both parties have eviscerated the War Powers Act), ethically muddied (Iran's been as extrateritorial as Serbia, who bombing into submission was approved of by most on the left), regime internal policies evil too.
On a more serious note, our response to regretful Trump voters should always be "welcome." Cognitive dissonance is a real thing.
