Foreign policy is not the personal domain of a president. Congress has a constitutional role to serve as the voice of the people and a restraint on power. One of the oldest moves in the authoritarian playbook is to sideline the legislature and strip away checks and balances...

“Vaxx and relax” was never a good strategy for Covid.
The vaccines are great at keeping people out of hospital, but they don’t stop transmission and they don’t prevent Long Covid.
Those of us who know this never stopped masking.
With the US restricting vaccines, it’s time to mask back up!
First panel: a baby xenomorph bursts out of a surprised-looking person's chest. The alien is screaming "Reeeeeeeeead!" and is holding a book Second panel: A book-banner is holding a sign that says "Ban Books", they are saying: "This child is too young to read that book!: the baby alien is clutching the book to it's chest and replies: "Hissssss mine!" Third panel: the book-banner is looking terrified, the mama Alien looms behind him and it's saying: "You don't tell my child wha tit can read!"
Apparently it is #AlienDay - did you know that Xenomorphs are anti-book-bans?
The Interior Department announced late yesterday that it will fast-track approvals for coal, gas, oil, and mineral projects on public lands.
Hey old friend!
New study shows that COVID may damage your immune system for a year post infection.
This is the problem with ignoring a pandemic in favour of a “you do you” approach.
There’s so much Covid that most people get it at least once per year. Their immune systems don’t have time to recover
Groups across the country have received letters notifying them that their grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities have been canceled, raising alarms about serious harm to museums, historical sites, and a wide range of community projects.
Still there. Jersey.
This is the best piece of reporting I’ve seen so far on what is going on at IMLS. I encourage everyone who cares about the key role that libraries and museums play in the United States to read it. news.artnet.com/art-world/do...

They’ll be cancelling huge swaths of grants/contracts and starting a Reduction in Force (RIF).

If you’re researching or treating people with Long Covid, you need to be wearing a mask. Ideally an N95 or better.
Optics matter. If you can’t do this simple thing to ensure your patients don’t get infected again with the virus that disabled them, they won’t feel safe in your care.

There are measles outbreaks in the U.S. & Canada. A disease we eradicated is making a comeback due to dangerous anti-vaxx rhetoric
We need mandatory masking in healthcare
A respirator protects against Covid, measles & more
There’s no excuse to expose patients when we have the tools to prevent it:
Disabled patients have a right to safe healthcare.
When we ask staff to mask, we aren’t “entitled”. We’re advocating for our lives. We’re trying to protect our baseline. We’re asking for the respect we deserve.
We can’t “just stay home” from the hospital. Masks should be mandatory.
It's tough to keep up with all the social media. If you want to keep up with me, I update Instagram or Facebook more often. Take care, drink water, and get some rest.
Vaccines and masks. MASKS.
And, if that doesn't age me, I wrote for a BBS on an Amiga in the early to mid 1990s. I write out 1990s instead of just '90s because I covered Y2K. So there. Let's see what the algorithm does with that!
Like so many others, I quit the twit. Although, I wasn't hardly on there at all. I might have had an account from library school. I am more of an old school blogger from the cheese sandwich days of food blogging.
