The King And Us
Something is going on at Marvelous S
Interactive. Toward the end of 2008, the
specialist publisher halted development
of the latest instalment of its biggest cash
cow, Harvest Moon, in order to redirect staff
efforts into new Wii RPG, Little King's Story.
The game is being rushed toward a March
release, presumably as a tactical move to boost
earnings before the end of the tax year. But
why this game in particular?
First because Little King's Story has attracted
considerable attention from RPG fans due to its dream team of developers, plucked from
the teams behind Final Fantasy XII, Lost
Odyssey, Kingdom Hearts, and Freshly-Picked
Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland, among others.
Second, Marvelous clearly believes that Little
King's Storyis a game with which its regular
audience will have fun. We're inclined to agree.
Based on hands-on time with a nearcomplete version, Little King's Story seems to
be much more than the cross between Harvest
Moon and Pikmin we'd first envisioned when
it went by the name of Project O'.
