You want to delete that whole part right. If you select then in face select and then do del > faces it should be enough. If you still have some geo left it means you have overlapping faces. In that case delete a larger chunk and remodel. Or select all certs and do merge by distance. And try again

Go in face select mode (press 3 on your keyboard) select the faces you want to delete. Press delete > faces.

You can probably also do it from the current state. Just pick the option faces instead of vertices
