Sure, but I look at this as cumulative effects compounding over time - to me we are just four years further into the worst inequality in 100 years, and costs have not come down, a marginal increase in wages does not solve for that.

To be honest tho think it can be partially attributed to how inequality has led to just everything being strapped, not just people but schools, institutions, cities, - the money that used to be spread is now concentrated. There’s no “but wages are up” graphic that can deny how the pie has shifted.

I suspect the Pope sounds "woke" to many Christian conservatives because the US is steeped in prosperity theology, where the point of worship is to deliver health and wealth to believers. Thus, "feed the hungry" and "show mercy for the poor" sounds needlessly political and "woke."
