Perhaps the Gamers are alright

How is it on the deck? I’ve considered going back to it or one of the Ys games this year.
I see it, and understand it, but I still prefer TOTK when all is said and done. The crafty nature of it is just more fun to me overall.
Hard work meaning difficult to watch, or hard work meaning boring? I was pretty engaged for all of the 3 1/2 hours and only really felt fatigued trying to understand what the epilogue was going for.
The Brutalist (2024)
Book entitled: how to date buildings (an easy reference guide)
I’m done dating humans. I’ve got a better idea—
Anybody else on my feed see The Brutalist this week? That movie absolutely blew me away. Fantastic. Still thinking about it this morning.
Many people who identify as "Christian" may find Rev. Budde's words strange and unfamiliar. That's because they're based on the philosophy espoused by Jesus.
I’m the odd one out who would say it’s just alright. Great if you have a dedicated crew to play and experience the craziness with. Setpiece moments are really intense and fun. Playing with randoms only gave me maybe 25% of that experience. Early game (10+ hrs) is pretty slow until you get upgrades.
#steamdeck community:
Any good loot-focused ARPGs that play well on deck and function offline? POE2 has me itching for something on the go.
Last Epoch looks cool, but I hear performance complaints.
Grim Dawn also seems great, but someone said recent updates borked deck support?
Path of Exile 2 is a great ARPG, especially with the recent loot fixes. It takes a lot to get my partner into a game, but co-op on our side-by-side desks has been pretty damn fun.
Okay, I’ll bite.
My last 10 GOTY picks:
2023: Zelda: TOTK
2022: Elden Ring
2021: Nioh 2
2020: Yakuza: LAD
2019: Death Stranding
2018: Destiny 2: Forsaken
2017: BOTW
2016: Overwatch
2015: Bloodborne
2014: Dragon Age
2013: GTA V
It’s that time of the year when I get jealous of families that actually like each other ✨
It is ALWAYS okay to:
- Play a game on any difficulty setting
- Jump between games depending on what you're in the mood for
- Finish playing a game and moving on when you just don't feel like continuing.
- Enjoy games that no one else likes
Play how you want to play and have fun. That's it.
I’d say the whole gap where you’re around lvl 25-40 is what I’ve considered the “mid” game pacing-wise. You’re at the start of it - Brilehaven is when I started to feel the pacing drag, and it picked up greatly once I left the town after Brilehaven.
I get that feeling! And that’s why I’m pushing through. There is a very major plot point happening the next time I play so I’m hoping it picks up for the final quarter of the game.
Okay - 45 hours into Metaphor and I think this game + Persona 5 have got that sunk cost fallacy effect HARD. I’m not really loving the mid-game, but damn it I am 45 hours in and I’m going to finish it.

Well, it turns out that Wicked is my movie of the year. That 3 hours absolutely flew by. Musical numbers all gave me those good-theater goosebumps. Could not stop smiling.
If you hate musicals, it ain’t gonna convert you…but man, you’re in for a treat if you like them.
I absolutely did not finish (or even really enjoy?) Etrian Odyssey 4, but I bought it completely based on how strong the battle theme was. I still think this is one of the best themes I’ve heard in a game.

I’ve been involved in musical theater since I was 9. I know the urge to burst into song. But still…theater fans need to chill. Save it for the singalong shows in December that are purposefully designed for this.
This could be the best sandwich in Portland

I think Shadow of the Erdtree is the first DLC I’ve played where I could say “yeah, that qualifies”. MAYBE Phantom Liberty….maybe.
If you see this, post something blue.
Uh huh. I’ve seen negative feedback that there isn’t enough fighting or politics here, and it’s like…maybe? But I also engage with that IRL every day?
Linkin Park x JPEGMafia is a very weird pairing to me, but I’ll probably be there next September. I’ve wanted to see both acts for years and that new LP album ain’t too bad.
Noted. I won’t worry about it then until I’m unlocking tier 3s.
People who’ve played Metaphor: did you ever settle into one set of builds towards the end of the game? About 30 hours in and the constant swapping classes around, buying new gear, and just not feeling “solid” in a build is giving me a headache.
oh that’s not bad actually
