In Ward 5, it appears that Dennis Burke has stepped aside to make way for Gregory Monroe in the Anti-CLUP lane. We’ll see if this holds.

Will Carlos Fiorello Gordish pull an eleventh-hour surprise?
With just a few hours remaining before the 4 p.m. deadline, the #A2Council primary is shaping up to be two-way races across the board, except for the three-way contest in Ward 2.
He has a Degree in History from Yale, where he studied with Elie Wiesel, doncha know.
Maybe he sucked the air out of his bong.
The granddaddy of them all.
Oy. #A2Council
Smart for Chuck to get out of Ryan B’s way in the NIMBY lane.
Ope, Ashley Hall has just submitted her signatures, as has Gregory Monroe in Ward 5.
Ashley Hall has until 4 p.m. tomorrow to file her signatures.
BREAKING: Chuck Ream has withdrawn, setting up a two-way race for the #A2Council primary in Ward 3.

Easier to swallow? Perhaps for some, but not for me.
Joe’s Star Lounge, owned and operated by Joe Tiboni, was torn down to make way for 101 N. Main. So you have generation upon generation of aggrieved NIMBYs at this site.
Ultimately, it’s your ward, not mine (5th Ward here)
In all sincerity, I’m on your side. I‘ve not owned a car since 1991; I bike. However, I had just donated to Sandy’s campaign prior to the news about your candidacy and am concerned about a three-way primary allowing a candidate with a plurality advancing to the general. Perhaps I’m overly concerned
3D chess conspiracy theories, anyone?
By the time Hannah biked to City Hall to pull petitions, I'd already donated to Sandy's campaign. It's perhaps a selfish definition, but I define that as too late.
I’m looking forward to seeing how this all plays out, and saving receipts.
I have nothing against Hannah. I’m on her side, especially as a cyclist. It’s just that the timing is bad.
Although she has yet to submit her signatures, Sandy has already organized a campaign committee, posted a website, listed endorsements, is accepting donations, and has been the feature of an MLive article.
The NIMBYs are celebrating:
This would be an ideal scenario for a Lansing-style non-partisan primary, in which the top two vote-getters advance to the general election. That's not what we have, alas, and it's also not what was proposed in 2024.
Why wait? We were fretting over precisely this issue in Ward 5 months ahead of the filing deadline in 2022. The deadline is ten days off, so there's some urgency to this matter IMO.
True, but she risks splitting the YIMBY vote and letting the NIMBY-sanctioned candidate slip through.
Her decision this late in the game to make this a three-way primary complicates matters. I hope she reconsiders and steps aside.
So precisely when did Ranzini trademark the word "fascist?"
