In the dogs eyes, every door is automatic.
Jacaranda trees in bloom lining Fairfax in South Hollywood, CA I consider this a very mediocre picture but Iâm posting it today in contrast to yesterdayâs amazing pic as a test. I paired yesterdayâs with Malcolm X and those pics never do numbers. Methinks the folks on this platform need a lot more Malcolm in their lives. Ninnys.

A Southern elephant seal makes a surprise visit to the residential neighborhood of Gordon's Bay in Cape Town, South Africa, and triggers an almost nine-hour rescue effort to return him to the coast.

Some of you have let me into moments that are deeply personal and sometimes devastating.
I donât take that lightly.
I donât forget them.
I am honored if I was able to bring you any kind of help or support.
I donât post your healing journey because I donât see it as a marketing funnel.
Iâm not here to become the Sarah McLachlan of the humans.
I wonât display your life at its most vulnerable, when itâs clearly the last thing you need.
And sometimes... itâs you who leaves.
Thatâs when I may get the opportunity to meet your parents. Your siblings. Your best friend.
And now Iâm the one telling them what your dog loved about you, things they never knew, and maybe you didnât either.
Things I never imagined doing at the time.
From dogs that had mild fears to a dog that survived the car accident that killed their owner.
What was once a typical nervous conversation became me watching eyes fill with tears as this person listed all the reasons why that dog loved their partner, who was suddenly taken.
Other times, itâs the quieter heartbreaks.
A breakup.
A reactive dog.
A life that split in two, and now itâs just you, in a new apartment, trying to start again. The only family left being the dog you refused to give up on.
From a typical dog attack at the park to a bait dog used in a dog fighting ring. The kind other professionals swore me were just a myth. His body was scarred from head to toe, it was not an easy thing to see. That boy still walked up to me, tail wagging, and nuzzled my hand the first time we met.
But what I used to know as "dog trauma" shifted. My cases changed.
The last 4 years in particular have been especially humbling.
I started as a fairly average reactivity trainer, working cases that felt serious, but still fell into familiar patterns: dogs fearful of other apex predators, leash frustration, maybe even a concerning dog fight or two.
Iâve learned something from every single one of your dogs.
And Iâve learned something from all of you too.
But if thereâs one thing Iâve consistently struggled with, itâs content.
Let's talk about it:
