Long term I expect only blue states will be safe in any meaningful way.
I live in a purple state, and I can say that you would almost definitely be safer in a blue state. I don't feel particularly at risk in my region of the state.
The regional culture has a lot to do with it. If there's a region that's solid blue in your state that may work short term.
These precautions include making sure you can defend yourself if the bigots decide to attack. That means obtaining a self defense weapon and learning to use it.
