In a very broad sense there is literally nothing that would even make it feel that out of place. The ancient Egyptians with their magic gold relics of power played stone tablet games with real monsters, who is to say there isn't just a magic Banishment Dimension that is basically just Turbo Hell.
I was saying this to a bunch of friends but as much as 4kids made some insane changes to YuGiOh. I think the Shadow Realm is like an inspired decision. Nothing is as iconic to series as the Shadow Realm is to YuGiOh.
