My newest article is out in TDR: The Drama Review! It traces my recovery of one of the first Latinx participants in U.S. blackface minstrelsy in the nineteenth century. Thanks to Doug Jones and Kellen Hoxworth for supporting the development of this essay.

UC to Stop Funding Systemwide Postdoc Program
Established in 1984 to encourage women and minority Ph.D.s to pursue academia, the program has attracted right-wing criticism for prioritizing diverse candidates. https://bit.ly/3WFBSpb

The President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, PPFP, has been a jewel in the crown for faculty development and recruitment at the University of California for years and the results have been an expanded faculty with almost 100% tenure rates — unprecedented success.

It's been a week since #NEH staff arrived at our jobs as public servants and discovered DOGE circumvented our databases and terminated our #humanities grants.
Over 1,400 grants have been terminated and the majority of staff have been placed on leave. We remain in shock at the scale and subterfuge.

Judith Butler: To Imagine a World After This, Democracy Needs the Humanities
Many young people tell me that they fear there is no future. When they ask about the future, they are also asking: what is still imaginable or for what may we still hope? To say there is no future,…
J Butler “Imagining the future beyond the end of this world is part of what it means to live life now. This does not, in my view, entail a negation of this world, but only a critical interrogation of the limits of the imaginable in light of radical democratic claims.” lithub.com/judith-butle...
