Be One of the Good Ones: His House and Colonial Capitalist Hauntings His House (2020) is a ghost story about displacement, precarity, and the inescapable afterlives of ...

HIS HOUSE is a classic case of using the horror genre to address societal issues.
Next Tuesday, I'm excited to welcome @jamesrendell.bsky.social to the Horse Hospital to dive into this film

As part of the Studio Ghibli/Hayao Miyazaki in Wales project, it was wonderful to have yr 6 & 7 students from Ysgol Nantgwyn come to the university today for a screening of Laputa: Castle in the Sky. The students learnt about Miyazaki’s trips to Wales in the 1980s & its influence on the film.

Thrilled to get my contributor’s copy of this brilliant edited collection. My chapter analyses online racist (anti-)fan cultures’ toxic conspiracies of ‘blackwashing’ directed at Black actors cast in Western screen media, which perpetuates white victimhood.

BIG new release, all dressed in Black. #OxfordUP's latest handbook is all about horror noire, with a global scope. Still aca-priced, so set your librarian to work! Eds. @robinmeanscoleman.bsky.social + Novotny Lawrence + a huge cast of writing talent.

The cover of the book "The Nightmare Before Christmas" featuring a large photo of the film's lead character Jack Skellington, an animated skeleton-man in a striped suit. He's holding out a paper snowflake in his fingers and looking at it in wonder.

382 films watched in 2024. A new high score for me. Highlights were watching Black Christmas on the big screen, revisiting Bong Joon-Ho’s body of work, and Perfect Days.

👀Voting opens for SXSW London panels tomorrow!
Black & Brown voices are missing in horror—as creators & critics. Systemic barriers limit our ability to shape the genre. Jordan Peele can't be our only way in! Let’s amplify marginalized voices & demand real change. Representation matters. #SXSWLondon
