Stolen from Reddit. I think it's a good one. Btw - load your setup into Claude and talk about the gear you're thinking about buying. Sometimes its take is really helpful.

Current state of things. Moved the Monome Teletype clone next to Pam's and moved Marbles into the 2nd rack because I hardly use it. All in all, it's finished (for today πŸ˜€)

Wow, Flanagan is a great teacher and explained it really well. I'd like to let Flanagan know that there's already a SumDif in my rack that's eager to participate in some Mid/Side patching shenanigans. Thank you 😊

First time I heard about mid-side processing. Would Flanagan like to tell me more about it?

I had a few experiments with making a SID being controlled by CV. But the SID resisted,.maybe the timing was wrong

Procrastination phase. It broke weeks ago when I dropped it. Now this head has become a symbol for my current state of mind

The Moog Spectravox is now part of the overflow rack. It's a powerful filter, but I hardly use it. And why oh why does the carrier input only accept line level?
Do you have one and use it?

As long as you can still #ifdef out the shit you don't need

Reading about other nerdy hobbies has the risk of starting a new and potentially expensive one. MUST RESIST!

For a long time I avoided Pam's Pro, I thought it was just an overrated clock with extras. Then I discovered its CV-controllable Euclidean rhythms. Now I have one and it's easily one of the best modules I've ever owned. Its user Interface is great

A crossover course for electronics and modular synths sounds like fun and something I would be interested in. Not that much competition out there, a few books, a video course by Moritz Klein

If preparing such a course brings you joy or the feedback of students does, go for it. A good course is never a waste of time

Ok, the Cyclone 303 clone is around 275EUR here. For 420EUR you'll get the Shakmat Modular Ballista Blast. And that's a full voice. And you can use everything in your rack to make it move :-)
That's a lot of cash and I will delay that topic till summer. And produce stuff that my modules can do :-)

And control via Midi?

Yes, there's more to it. The Doepfer A-103 is quite similar to the original, but pushing resonance via CV isn't possible. Slides, yes. Accents, have to learn more about how it's used in the 303 universe. Thanks for the pointer

I had a spare rack with 3U which replaces my smaller 1U overflow rack. Having an overflow rack feels a bit like hoarding and lack of focus. Do you have one?

I thought there would be dozens of alternatives, but a lot of them aren't made anymore, or they're complete voices (like the Shakmat Ballista Blast). Is Acid dead?

Currently I'm diving into Acid Techno. My Doepfer A-103 is based on Roland's TB-303 filter design, but its resonance can't be controlled via CV. The Doepfer A-106-6 supports CV over resonance, but it doesn't sound very squelchy to me. Any recommendations?

Found this when reading the manual of the Doepfer A 134-2. "Special design for Gus Gus". That's a trigger for me to listen to their stuff again. Has been a while #doepfer #gusgus

A touch screen would make it possible. But they suck when it comes to analog input

Some ppl don't like displays in their Eurorack. I don't mind them if they are useful and not an excuse for creating mile-deep menus. I think the Multigrain would be better with a display. Would its size increase? Probably yes.

New chess engines on retro hardware Does anyone know of any efforts to write modern chess engines for old hardware? (e.g. C64, A2e?) I'd love to see how a pared-down Stockfish or Leela that could fit in RAM could do rating wise etc.

Probably not:
