Finally! After a near 4 month hiatus, we are back in (and successfully out of) the maw of @inplacesdeep.bsky.social 🪦 Nightwick Abbey 🪦
First hobby store I’ve found in Houston, Atomic, that sells bits by the gram!
Got a little pile of cool stuff
Time to get some Wizard of Earthsea going!
Peacocktrice 🦚 are some of my favorite monster reskin. The false eyes of the bird are just so symbolically aligned with the gaze/petrification aspect of cockatrices & basilisks; I’ve read a swan 🦢 variant that turns you to water too
Title of my sex tape…
Its awesome when the "dragon" is something else but still dragon-esque. And really birds ARE dinosaurs...
But the gold…
Feel like expensive chalk would be a way a MU could lay magic traps or wards- each stick could cover a 10ft area.
Yeah, I think it covers all the basics doesn’t leave any awkward gaps when a tool would be the best option while dungeon delving
Very true. But I do like a few more weird items like a bell, chalk, sack with a chicken.
Hmmm maybe I could write a “what’s in your small sack?”
Looking through some old files, here is what Gygax apparently would give out at his convention games for each player's equipment (slots are my addition)
Just point toward Dungeon Meshi
A summer isle that is a Vancian fever-dream! It’s mysteries delight then kill you like the giant sword-welding octopus that pulled my PC Neuf LaBlue in two…🐙🔜💔
Great mag y’all! Grab it! And let’s keep great writing and art in the superior tree corpse format dropped off in your mail box like an ill-omen (of great game coverage!)
These maps are always awesome- look at that color!
(B)atlings Not Halfings!
Would so kill to have either Holmes or BX redone with those illos
The shell helmets were peak. Capt Nemo sources local.
Best Star Trek crew, wrong answers only
Call of Cthulhu-a horror investigation game that is:
99% Use the dynamite 🧨
01% Spot Hidden the dynamite 🧨
Front page of the trifold going over the basics, D&D, APs and VTTs
Back page of the pamphlet going over dice and some other game recommendations
The final version of my "What the Heck is a TTRPG?" trifold is available completely free on my itchio! Perfect for those looking to get a basic understanding of the hobby or branch out into new games ~ (((Thank you to everyone who gave feedback!))

I randomly keyed a Dyson map in 6-room clusters using Dolmenwood, aiming for quick Friday-night-D&D play over publication quality. Then thought it might be interesting to blog about 3 things to punch up each cluster: icastlight.blogspot.com/2026/04/frid...
At the end of tonight's CoC session 🦑🕵️, Sid Smith is:

🧠 72 of 65

So, he'll most likely die slipping on a bar of soap in the shower
An ornate medieval door, decorated with flowers at Ballintubber Abbey
A narrow stone doorway leads into a cairn at Seefin
A green metal door in a gothic style vault
The ornate Hiberno-Romanesque doorway into the Nun's Church at Clonmacnoise
Here is the second edition of our portals to the past, featuring doorways to historic sites around Ireland:
1. Ballintubber Abbey • Mayo
2. Seefin Passage Tomb • Wicklow
3. A door into a burial vault at Drumhome • Donegal
4. The Nun's Church • Clonmacnoise

I love random advancement tables! Here’s one for goblins or other sneaky little folks
I think most OSR systems adopt the X-in-6 thief. Where anything one would want to do that is “thiefy” is rolled on a d6.
At first level it’s a 2:6 then at 4th is a 3:6 ect (or some variation)
