The playoffs are a clean slate. You play 82 games to get there and be in the room where it happens. Devils are in the game now and have a chance to make some playoff magic.
Last night aside, I think the Devils have found a more consistent ingredient for success over the past couple of weeks. When they play with energy and structure, they put themselves in position to compete each game.
Couple more thoughts on the #NJDevils clinching:
The playoffs are a culmination of the full body of work over 82 games. The Devils played well enough early in the year to absorb the bumpiness of the last couple of months.
The back-to-back in December between these two teams was nasty. Two clubs that don’t like each other. This series could have some serious snarl.
Devils-Canes is the first playoff matchup to be locked in. The teams split the season series with the Devils winning twice in New Jersey and Carolina winning twice in Raleigh.
For the second time in three years the #njdevils are headed to the Stanley Cup Playoffs! Devils officially clinch their spot tonight and are destined for a match up with the Carolina Hurricanes. Cannot wait for postseason hockey again!

With Columbus's loss to Toronto tonight, the #NJDevils magic number is now 3. The Devils will have a chance to clinch on Tuesday night if the Rangers earn one point or less in their match up with Tampa on Monday.
Heading into today, the Devils lead the Rangers by 8 points. New Jersey has 6 games left, NYR 7. Devils are 10 points up on CBJ (8 games remaining) and 11 up on Islanders (7 games remaining).
