Intrigued by the choice of Inquisitor in Maul: Shadow Lord. Last time we saw them, there were hints of something that might make them a very fascinating counterpoint to Maul.
I wonder if we'll find out that the Inquisitors deliberately (in universe) have their own Maul... π

Not just the Ancient aesthetic either, that tower structure at the rear always felt just pyramid/ziggurat enough to feel like where the Goa'uld stole their tech from.
I wish we'd got to see more from that pre-Pegasus pre-Plague era, we never saw much of what the Goa'uld copied.

Green Arrow saying "They're another generative A.I. company. Scraping personal data, stealing art and stories and knowledge. Polluting and poisoning. Using masses of energy and water. Taking what the world actually needs to produce nothing anyone wants."
Happy to see @tomtaylormade.bsky.social not holding back (though when has he ever?) in Detective Comics this month. The company in question is called 'Klep Corp'. Chef's kiss. Drag them, Tom. π¦
Two screenshots from #Stargate SG-1, altered by inserting character screenshots from #StarTrek #StarTrekDS9. (No, Colonel O'Neil wouldn't complain.) In both, we see O'Neil and Sam, in their army fatigues and equipment, on one of the many thousand of planets in the galaxy that look like Canada with a lush forest on one side, a clearing on the other and more forest and mountains in the back. In the first picture, the colonel is holding up originally the Z gun of the Goa'uld. "This is a weapon of terror, it's designed to intimidate your enemy." Rather than the Z gun, though, a picture of Gul Dukat is pasted over it. In the second picture, originally, O'Neil is holding up his own machine gun. But rather than that, we have a picture of your friendly neighborhood tailor, Mr. Elim Garak, smiling and raising both open palm hands, pasted over it. O'Neil explains, "This is a weapon of war. It's designed to kill your enemy."
Have a great-- ugh, MONDAY. Just light up, #StarTrek friends! <sigh>
Never let appearances fool you, Bajoran workers. They're both deadly and not safe to turn your back to.

(interesting to think about Dr Robby on The Pitt in the context of these two, too. Season 2 was definitely his House era, and I think it says a lot about how society has changed that there's so much less tolerance for that toxicity β perhaps in part because we've seen he can be better)
Super fascinating as a comparison to House MD, which also portrays Holmes as an addict, but I think in a more cynical way. In Elementary, his loved ones succeed in helping Holmes to be/become a better person, whereas House permits/tolerates his being an asshole.
This is definitely my favourite incarnation. It's an odd parallel, but the way they portray Sherlock's addiction as a constant ongoing struggle made me feel very seen as someone with chronic illness. He doesn't always succeed. He doesn't always handle it with grace. His loved ones help him try.
I hate Al and I refuse to use it Peter, if you don't use Al a bunch of super rich men will lose a lot of money I already said I hated Al Harry, you don't need to sell it to me
A little late to the party, but now that the UK has HBO, I just watched my way through A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Shout out to GRRM for writing some excellent A Knight's Tale fanfic (affectionate).
I continue to be a fan of the himbo dad and surrogate child genre.
It wouldn't even need to be pilots: Star Trek could get a lot of mileage out of Redshirts or MACOs being fleshed out enough for audiences to connect with and worry about them. Outside of O'Brien/Rand, I think Good Shepherd is one of the only times we've dwelt on characters without a space degree?
It's really interesting The Pitt, an ensemble show about a Captain and his crew engaging in competence porn and technobabble to save people and engage with social issues. Trek could learn a lot of lessons from how well it showcases all levels of that hierarchy, not just the doctors/"officers".
This is a very popular topic in Trek fanfic/roleplay circles. It's interesting that Discovery et al have given us fighters, but only as nameless background props.
But then, that is Trek's vibe. We focus on the people at the top, not on the boots on the ground.

Lovely People.

Itβs profoundly ignorant to suggest that the Pope should be fighting crime on behalf of the Catholic Church. Anyone who was remotely familiar with Roman Catholicism would know that thatβs what Daredevil is for

Post your favourite film from the year you turned 18.
Even if they did decide to honour Hoshi getting killed off in some background text, that happened within Kirk's lifetime, ~95 years after Enterprise launched. Unless they're planning for President Archer to be in his 130s, Hoshi would still have decades left to live.
* That said, neural interfaces are a mind reading technology, and Falling Skies gave its aliens a form of telepathy via radio waves, so there are definitely ways that Mass Effect could have played around with psychic-esque stuff without deviating too far from their vibe.
Mass Effect reminds me of Stargate, where Naquadah is a superconductor, a power source, a catalyst for biotech, etc.
Biotics aren't psychic, they're people using Element Zero to manipulate physics the way technology does. Spaceships tend not to read minds* so it feels like being consistent.
Woke up, had a shower, listened to the ISS crew phone Integrity and chat about dinner, and now I'm crying again. π₯Ή
I love these people, I love this mission.
The Orion spacecraft on the left, in a picture from a solar array cam, floating behind the Moon. The Moon is haloed by the light of the sun. At the edges of the -I turn you can see stars.
This shot just blows my mind.

An image from the new Darth Maul animated series. It shows a red skinned member of Maul's species, wearing a black sleeveless shirt with a bandana pulled over his lower face. The contrast between the black bandana and his red skin, and the spikes protruding from his skull resembles the comic book character Daredevil.
Can't sleep, so watching the first episodes of Maul β Shadow Lord. Love how this guy's mask and outfit makes him look like Daredevil. π
I can't stop thinking about CAPCOM saying "copy heart, copy bracelets" to let Wiseman know his kids had seen him gesturing to them on the onboard camera.
Everything about this mission has felt so warm and wholesome. What an adorable and admirable crew they chose.
