EMU/GAMA: Refining Dust Extinction Corrections for Hα Luminosity Functions Using Radio-Based Calibration We present a novel approach to correcting H$α$ luminosity functions for dust extinction by calibrating against radio-based star formation rates (SFRs), using data from the Evolutionary Map of the Univ...

Are we totally wrong about how much dust there is at high redshifts? 🌌 🔭 ☄️
...You'll have to read my very first paper to find out!
It just became available on arxiv, but I'll be posting a simplified annotated version and a blog post in the coming weeks too.

I spy with my large binocular eyes: a dusty torus around a supermassive black hole? There’s no sugar on this doughnut – might we need to ditch tori for large nuclear disks around active galactic nuclei? Today’s authors peer deep into NGC 4151 to find out!

in an era when carnivore diet influencers are in charge of the american nuclear arsenal we have to admit the "annoying vegan" stereotype barely ever actually existed and the "all meat diet guy" is real, increasingly omnipresent, and way more annoying and inconvenient to actually be around

I don’t know how these people have gotten guns, but there needs to be a crackdown. We cannot be like the US and allows this shit to happen. It’s unclear how many victims there are, but I hope for a speedy recovery for them. Fuck those shooter cunts.

Every wondered how we know that supermassive black holes are so supermassive? Well one trick is to watch how light echoes around them, using "reverberations" to map how big they are. In my latest paper I close out the Australian Dark Energy Survey (OzDES) to measure the masses of hundreds of SMBH.
