Did you know when you travel on a public road, you’re not just responsible for your own safety, but for the safety of others on that road too? @cityofrochester.bsky.social

Public meetings start next week to gather input on the potential use of automated safety cameras. This is an extremely important & nuanced issue. Please read our new blog on the proposal & its commitment to equity. Attend 1 of the listening sessions too. reconnectrochester.org/2026/04/auto...
Just a perfect day for biking in Rochester, NY today

I dressed like a bike lane for Earth Day. (And also for my bike presentation later today.)

I gave it a 3 as well. 😉
Bike Drive this Saturday in Fairport! Donate unused bikes so they can be tuned up and given to someone in need of transportation.
If a municipality wants to fight climate change, transportation & land use must be addressed. For Earth Day, check out Saga City, a family-friendly look at sustainable transportation & land use. vimeo.com/57071287
I'm loving this new attitude from DOT: "Everytime NIMBYs sue to stop a bike lane, the bike lane gets a mile longer."*

Until May 2, we want as many cyclists as possible to ride this recently worked-on stretch of East Ave once in each direction & submit their grade. For bonus points, spend money at a local business nearby, telling them you appreciate bike infrastructure. reconnectrochester.org/2026/04/new-...

With soaring gas prices, it’s a wonderful time to explore if biking for some of your trips is feasible. We offer custom bike route assistance! Between 2023-25, 140 individuals were sent custom low-stress bike routes to their workplace. form.jotform.com/ReconnectROC... #ROC #RochesterNY

Alright folks, over the next 2.5 weeks (Apr 15-May 2), we want as many cyclists as possible to ride this recently worked-on stretch of East Avenue once in each direction & submit their grade. 🙏🏼 Details & grading link: reconnectrochester.org/2026/04/new-...
he New York Times @nytimes.com · 17m Bike thieves are a persistent plague. The first line of defense: a good bike lock. To find the best bike lock, we ordered 35 of the toughest we could find and then sawed, chopped, and cut them to pieces.
I always avidly read such bike lock mass tests, and they always say basically the thing: with enough time and angle grinder blades, a serious thief will almost always get through. The trick is making sure you have a lock tough enough to make your bike not worth the time, effort and risk.
We’re grading only City projects this year for starters (3 years worth of projects). In 2027, we’ll expand the grading system outwards. East River Rd was a County DOT project in Henrietta. Bit.ly/roceasybike
Reconnect Rochester thought it was time for a simple grading system for bike infrastructure on completed road projects. Read more & get the grading links in our newest blog. reconnectrochester.org/2026/04/new-...
Well done season 7 #ROCbyBike guest contributors! Thanks for giving us a glimpse of your bike life during the “off season.” This fun guest series will resume in November. www.instagram.com/roccycling/ #ROC #RochesterNY
Congrats to Karen Lankeshofer & Henrietta’s bike/ped advocacy group for a great ride yesterday along the town’s new Bike Boulevards!
Agreed. Ridiculous. Motorists must stop & yield. Neighborhood Assns & active transportation groups should regulargly have events at crosswalks like that, holding up signs reminding motorists they're obliged to yield. Walk back & forth, making noise, inviting news coverage. Would elevate the issue.
Our final guest contributor of ROCbyBike Season 7 wrapped up her posts today on our instagram page. Here are some shots from Lori Koenick! www.instagram.com/roccycling/ #ROC #RochesterNY

Fun event today at 2pm! Dan’s got some stories to tell.
I really like riding my bicycle.
I think next time I’ll go even slower just to give my self more time.
