As his health declined into pain and an oxygen tank to breathe, he could never speak long when I called. At some point, my stepmom would take over the call.
She didn't try so hard. Much at all. But I would hear him, in the background, COMPLETELY OUT OF BREATH - correct her.
He always got it.

No. It really doesn't. My father got it immediately Never messed up once. He was a deeply flawed person in many ways, but from the moment I came out, he was 100% unfailingly supportive and correct, even when he didn't have to be,
And yes I know this song is not from Tidal. She doesn't release albums often, but each one is an absolute gem of an artistic journey.
Also I am too old for playing video games until 3am and then getting up at 8am to feed the cat. Seriously do need that nap! π΄π€
It's Saturday morning! Let's GO (take a nap)!!!

Been back in a Fiona Apple groove. Such an underrated and timeless genius of an artist. I will always consider Tidal the best album of the 90s (amid a decade with so much great music).
It so is! Seventeen Seconds is still my personally favorite Cure album, but I think Disintegration was hands down their *best* album.
What perfect album came out when you were 16?
1989 had some strong contenders - NIN's Pretty Hate Machine, debut albums from Camouflage and Red Flag, Skinny Puppy's Rabies, and more obscure favorites from Renegade Soundwave and Sleeping Dogs Wake! OMG! π€―
But gotta go with Cure's Disintegration...
But sold snus to US big tobacco making it the fastest growing tobacco product in the States. Sweden's worst export. π
The way I have put it since moving here (Sweden) - I miss being able to drive, but I absolutely do not miss needing to drive.
101 on the peninsula during commute times are a special kind of hell.
Thankfully I am in the southern end of Sweden so the occasional snowfalls during winter are always a delight rather than a burden. βοΈ
That and my "commute" is literally less than 5 minutes as I live a block from the office. SF Bay Area commutes are something I *really* don't miss.
RIGHT?!?
This country seems to be such a land of sun-lovers - whenever they hear I am from California, they say something along the lines of "I bet you miss the sun year round", and NO. I love the long dark winters.
It's Swedish summers that fuck me up, lol.
The center display case is my painted 40K Aeldari figures (hundreds of figures). The cases to either side are the only real shrines in our space - to our four cats that have passed on.
We also have some CD/DVD shelves on the TV side that have been largely repurposed to curio cubbies. π
We have a neat L-shaped living room, so we divided it with a sofa to have a library behind the sofa and then the other half as the TV room. These shelves are either side of a window with a 140-year old love seat.
Completely agree on the mixed in display spaces within the library. Ours library has a ton of book, because we both do love collecting books, but still has dedicated spaces for display of other things.
Makes everything feel more balanced and pleasing for us.
I have an unreasonable amount of attachment to our letter desk *despite* having no practical use for it. I loved it the moment I saw it in a shop and had to have it. And then had to keep it even when we were shipping everything across an ocean. π
^^ This is probably the best option to both make it less child-accessible and take up less space.
The letter desk technically folds open (or could if we had not placed a bunch of things on top like in the photo) but still occupies a significant amount of wall space without being actually practical.
When service people come to our flat, I always wonder what goes through their head when they see our "altar". π
(Not actually an altar to anything, just an old-fashioned letter desk that ended up having that aesthetic.)
Any day with Nick Cave is just a bit better.
Absolutely! The above is the track that first brought this project to my attention, but this is the track from this collaboration which I have been listening to more lately (as I included it in my Depeche Mode inspired playlist):
It's Saturday morning of a 4-day weekend! Let's GP!!!

I can't watch that old network standard of TV. I don't even know if any new shows are still made in that 20+ episode format - I certainly wouldn't watch them if they were. The last network show I watched was Blacklist, and I decided then I would never watch another.
I feel my time is not respected.
Earlier, as the States woke up and started dumping their shit into socials, I went "Oh yeah, today is THAT day. I hate this day."
And thought of you. π
Coincidentally, I was just remembering today that labial phrenologist lady on Twitter from 3 years ago transvestigating plaster vagina casts. The lady that also fingered medical cadavers. How was that even a thing??
They really are some fucking unhinged people.
This desperate need for a biscuit might be the most real and relatable thing I will see in my socials all day. How could I not be here for it?
The mindset here was a bit of culture shock to me.
Having a doctor inform me that admitting to pot use could result in being denied some medical care (but that she would look past it that time as a cultural difference).
I haven't touched it in years since I want nothing to jeopardize my residency.
Yeah - if it is in data anywhere, assume it will be seen. Silly notes? Seen. "Funny" offensive names? Also seen.
This isn't an AI policy thing - it should just be part of your dev mindset - assume anything you create might get shipped. If you don't want it shipped, make it as visibly unshippable as possible.
Using AI to have "prettier prototypes" is a poor dev mindset, and a self-inflicted trap to fall into.
As this is a recurring thing of accidentally including generated "placeholder" assets in shipped games...
Here's the thing - your placeholders should ALWAYS look like placeholders. Unmistakably placeholder. Anything that looks shippable you should assume might be shipped.

He did it. He did the meme.
Been the victim of 4 so far (not counting the many I survived or got out just before the axes fell).
Every one of them was devastatingly destructive to my life. I have been left homeless twice. I will never be able to retire.
This industry...
The series finale of Six Feet Under is still one of the best executed and powerful series conclusions I have ever seen. I can't watch it and not be a teary mess.
Damn I need to rewatch it again...
